I paid for a software that had a guarantee - don’t like it and we’ll give you your money back no questions asked.

The software was a total shit show, didn’t work like it was supposed to, and within 3 days I requested a full refund.

They emailed back saying they’d give me a half refund because I was using it wrong and that’s why it didn’t work for me. I sent screenshots showing that it wasn’t me, it was the software (I work in the industry so I know when something is just plain crap).

Anyway, they never got back to me despite chasing so I left them a bad review on TrustPilot kinda saying buyer beware as the guarantee isn’t what they say it is.

Cue 3 missed calls, a text and a WhatsApp from some customer service guy saying he wants to get the refund processed so to let him know when we can chat. I respond let’s keep it via email so it’s in writing - no, he says we need to talk on the phone.

He’s nice as pie on the phone, apologising and promising a full refund. THEN he says, if we give you the full refund will you take your review down?!

I said I’d edit it to say there’s been a resolution I’m happy with but I think he’s an absolute CF for asking for that. It also explains why they only seem to have good reviews…

So WIBU to edit the review and explain what happened and that he asked me to take it down? Or should I just give a few extra stars, say it was resolved and move on with my life?

I’m not normally a complainer but it wasn’t cheap, they’re not a tiny company, and tbh I’m now majorly pissed off.

Well he should give full refund regardless of review so I'd edit to give full story but not increase stars and that shouldn't impact on getting refund.

Exactly this. I hate when you use a product that has a high rating because of exactly this. Then you have to go through the whole drama just to get a resolution. I'd rather see honest reviews from the off.

Also the review should be about the product. Not the refund. Therefore the quality of the product has not changed.

I'd tell them you want a full tefund. Then I would leave the bad review as it stands.

If they won’t get a refund unless you remove the review, you could remove it, get the refund and then put another bad review up and include the fact that you were asked to remove your first one

*give a refund not get
