Am I being oversensitive?

Today on my lunch at work i overheard two of my managers having a conversation about me (the staff room is right next to the office and you can hear everything been said in there).
So I work part time hours, 8am-12pm Monday-Friday these have been my hours since I returned to work after treatment for cancer just over 18 months ago. I reduced my hours to part time after returning. All my other colleagues work full days.
I heard one of my managers saying that we can't keep treating me differently because I have had cancer and that what would they do if other staff had cancer they couldn't all work half days and I shouldn't have any special treatment.
I feel so upset, AIBU?

@SirChenjins No I don't have anything in writing. I just agreed with my manager the hours when I returned.

Ok - so probably better to have had something in writing (note for the future!!) but if you agreed it with your manager they can’t renege on that without proper discussion. Was there a period of time for half days agreed, or was it a permanent change? Was your contract changed?

I really would suggest formalising this arrangement so that you don’t have this hanging over you. Are you a member of a union? What’s the custom and practise guidance in your place?

YANBU at all, your hours are a reasonable adjustment and they shouldn't be discussing that where people can hear - and certainly not in that tone.

You've posted about your hours before, haven't you? Your colleagues are unhappy as you are never in for the busy part of the day or something along those lines I think?

I would email them and copy HR - a very polite, civilised email pointing out that staff in the break room can hear what they are saying and ask them not to discuss your hours and reasonable adjustments (use those words) within ear shot of others again.

I would be reporting them for talking about someones health in ear shot of other colleagues. How unprofessional.
