To ask what are you doing this bank holiday Monday ?

I'm based in the UK and the weather is due to be grey and overcast. I feel like I should be doing something to make the most of the day off work but then again 3 days at home for a long weekend doing jobs & just pottering around sounds great but these wont be must do/need to do jobs. As much as I would love to go out for the day with the DC, it will be chilly and the DC will want to be at home doing their thing and I don't want to spend the cash for a day out.

What has everyone else got planned ?

Really not sure, we've got so much stuff to sort in the house, but with 3 year old twins it's pretty impossible to do with them around.

Where are you based? Maybe a free museum visit?

I think we'll head to a park near us as they've got a vintage fairground for the weekend, but that will probably be Sunday. I do like having something planned for a day off when DH is also off though.

boring ironing and packing for our holiday on thursday

Justcallmebebes · 28/04/2022 11:48

I'm visiting my ex MIL who is in a residential home. My DD has seen her over lock down but I wasn't allowed in (nor the GC's) so it will be the first time in 2 years I have seen her so really looking forward to that. After that a pub lunch and a farm park with DD and GC.

Weather here looks okay. I love a bank holiday 😎

redandyellowbits · 28/04/2022 11:49

I am in exactly the same boat, at the moment I am thinking I will drag the DC out for a walk in nearby woods, and then the rest of the afternoon pottering at home, so at least we would have all got out together for a bit without it costing the earth.

JoeGoldberg · 28/04/2022 11:57

DC were poorly all over Easter so we didn't get out at all. Hoping for a train ride to the nearest big city from us, spend an hour in the Lego store, think there's a Build-A-Bear too, Forbidden Planet for me because I'm a big geek, and lunch somewhere like Yo-Sushi! It's not often we do something like that, and DC have birthday money to spend, so that's the plan!

Sebastianthecoo · 28/04/2022 11:58

Nothing, DC are at school as they are getting this bank holiday added onto the jubilee one so they are off Thursday/Friday of the jubilee.

DockOTheBay · 28/04/2022 11:59

I hadn't even realised it was a Bank Holiday until last week. So we haven't made any plans.
We will probably do some jobs around the house and maybe go for a day out on the Sunday as the weather is looking OK that day.

Everyone is getting the Thursday and Friday off before the Jubillee weekend. Thats in lieu of the end of May Monday Bank Holiday, not this one. You might want to check!

RainbowConnection1 · 28/04/2022 12:01

I'll be in work (live in Scotland).

Treaclepie19 · 28/04/2022 12:03

We were supposed to go to Chester over the Easter holiday but I was poorly with covid. So we've rearranged it for this weekend. Monday will be travelling home!

Greensleeves · 28/04/2022 12:04

My brother is visiting and we'll be walking on Dartmoor and having a picnic

Sebastianthecoo · 28/04/2022 12:05

@DockOTheBay I know I don’t understand either as I thought it was an ‘extra’ bank holiday. We’ve had emails from all DC schools confirming they are opened on Monday. We are in Scotland but normally get May Day off.

UrbanMage · 28/04/2022 12:06

No ideas. Would love to use our NT passes, but hate the idea that the world and his wife will be out and about. Will be doing some work in our grotty garden to make it less of an eyesore

Same here. I can have it for work but will save it and use it when I need to instead

Mydogisagentleman · 28/04/2022 12:09

Working. It’s also my birthday

Lndnmummy · 28/04/2022 12:14

I am looking at it from a 3 day weekend point of view rather than just the Monday (because it is the least exciting day :) ). On Saturday ds1 and I are going to some breakdance/hip hop dance thing just the two of us. I booked the tickets back in January so had forgotten about it. We are making a day of it, he gets to choose lunch (Nandos or five guys he tells me) and I am really looking forward to spending this time with him. Sunday is a chores day (eye test, vaccines, recycling etc) with my 3 year old in tow so that is more of a "get it done" type of day. DS and DH are going to check out some new sports activities (think it is football and athletics) and then a move night in the evening. Monday again is mainly chores/get organised. We are on a declutter mission so that will take the bulk of the day. I hate decluttering. It really overwhelms me which is really silly I know but I am already feeling snappy and annoyed about it. DH does this thing where he drags everything out and then he runs out of steam so there is stuff everywhere. It drives me insane. Its been like that for 2 weeks now so I have told him we are not going to bed on Monday until it is all done. IF (and its a big IF) we do manage it in a reasonable hour I'd like to do some food prep for the week. I am on a mission to try and cook more meals from scratch as we all could do with eating better but works has been so crazy I haven't managed it. Sorry, probably not at all interesting plans for anyone reading. There is no bank holiday glamping trip, SPA break or anything :)

Dilbertian · 28/04/2022 12:16

Get up. Feed cat. Have a cup of tea. Go back to bed.

Bliss.

TreatTrimTame · 28/04/2022 12:20

Me & DD are going into London to the theatre on Saturday (was a birthday gift). Then on Sunday me and DS's are going to choose a car for DS18's birthday next month. Then monday I have my brother coming round for a BBQ (weather permitting) as he has DNieces for the day and they are desperate to see me my dog.

custardcustardmorecustard · 28/04/2022 12:25

A mixed bag of activities for everyone. We have a reasonably sized low level bricked area in our back garden which i would love to dig out. It is possible to dig it out but it's persuading DH to do it. He agrees it needs doing but getting him on board to start it is massive and not sure if its achievable in the short term. But I'm adamant we are not paying for someone to do it when it's just a days hard slog for us and then it would be done.

I will also be decluttering, I am on a huge mission and everything and anything not used in the last year is going (with the expectation of seasonal items). I get pleasure and satisfaction out of a clean, organised, decluttered house. I need to empty our office and sort through the paperwork, tidy, sort, bin etc. Atm I cannot bear to even step foot in the office in it's current state. I also want to clean/wash the upholstery in my car, as we have just brought an upholstery vacuum washer/cleaner.
