Suddenly found myself out of the house from 9:30 till 5 today and need something to bung in the slow cooker for tea , I was planning to cook later but won't have time

I have a whole chicken and a full bottle of Nando's marinade

Will something lovely be waiting at home tonight if I put it in on low and just pour the bottle all over it? 😆

Sounds lovely maybe bung in an onion as well and some stock so it doesn’t thicken up too much. What time's dinner?

Everyone else will be back for 5:30 so hoping to get in first and do some chips and garlic bread and have it all ready when they get home.

I've never done this with a bottle of marinade in the slow cooker so just wondering if it will turn out ok 😅

It will be lovely! I do this all the time, I’m a lazy cook and most dinners are something chucked with a sauce of something in the slow cooker - Nando’s marinade and chicken is one of the family favourites! Hope it turns out well for you too

Get a Ninja Foodi - you can cook a whole chicken from the fridge in 30mins.

If it's a whole chicken I'd do it on high on the instruction of a bossy slow cooker book I have but I can see you don't really have that option! Definitely check it's cooked through and I'm sure it will be fine.

I've put it on high to be safe and asked my mum to nip in and check on it later and alter it if needs be.

Should be lovely but a LoT of liquid comes out of a chicken so the sauce might be quite thin but you can just eat it like that or pour into a saucepan and bubble to thicken.

It will be fine. Your mum might need to turn it to low later on. (I wouldn't add any stock as the liquid will come out the chicken - but as you have already done this no problem if you have.) Enjoy.

I'm planning on cutting up the chicken and putting it in wraps or pitta or something so not too bothered about the sauce if it's no good. I've already got chips rice and garlic bread to go with it.

Sounds yummy OP! Just place marking for slow cooker recipe inspiration, as I never know what slow cooker recipes to go for.

It was lovely! Not quite as good as roasted with the marinade but it was still tasty and id do it this way again for days I don't have much time.
