To think this wasn't very kind?

Firstly, I have a big nose. This will become relevant soon.Co worker bought her 1 year old son in over lunch the other day and was messing around saying to him,
Who here is smelly?
Who here is silly?
But then asked him- who here has a big nose?
He didn't say me but I did think it was thoughtless and even she looked awkward as she said it.
Aibu to say she should have been more thoughtful?

I don't think any of it was very kind. It's hardly polite to state that someone is smelly.

godmum56 · 24/04/2022 19:08

I don't think that's a great "game" to play anyway.....because when the child meets an important stranger and says "you are smelly" that's not going to go down well.

Moomeh · 24/04/2022 19:09

Has she only just come back from maternity leave? Because she's got forgotten-how-to-talk-to-adults syndrome (speaking from experience lol)

Moomeh · 24/04/2022 19:10

(And yanbu obvs)

Ohmygoshyoudontsay · 24/04/2022 19:10

She sounded a fool before she even mentioned big noses. She is teaching her baby how to bully and be unpleasant from the start. I wouldn't worry about your nose. They both have way bigger problems.

springtimeishereagain · 24/04/2022 19:10

What a stupid tit she sounds. Crap game to play. Sounds like she needs some adult conversation 🙄

Goldijobsandthe3bears · 24/04/2022 19:11

What a strange thing to do!

Candleabra · 24/04/2022 19:12

That’s awful! All of it. She asked a 1year old who was smelly? It’s bad enough when kids say that sort of thing without prompting (when they go through that no filter stage) But an adult saying that to them?

StoneofDestiny · 24/04/2022 19:12

She is a crass woman if she thinks that's remotely funny or that it's appropriate to teach her child such behaviour

Discovereads · 24/04/2022 19:12

The whole game is stupid and unprofessional. But it was just a game with a 1yr old to keep them distracted and quiet. You’re being a bit unreasonable to think it was deliberate rudeness.

spotcheck · 24/04/2022 19:14

I'm confused.... Was she saying that her own child is smelly and silly?

WhenTheNightFalls · 24/04/2022 19:26

No, she was asking him who he in the room thought was.
I just thought the big nose one was a real cruel one to come out with because of course he would have picked me. He wasn't really paying attention luckily.

comealongponds · 24/04/2022 19:32

The whole thing was unkind. Why would anyone encourage their child to be unkind like that?

Etinoxaurus · 24/04/2022 19:34

What a stupid woman.

greenlynx · 24/04/2022 19:34

Did he pick her on “who’s being silly”? And hopefully corrected that’s “not just silly but rather rude and stupid” because it’s what she was.
I wouldn’t tell her anything now but would treat her as a stupid bully.

HollowTalk · 24/04/2022 19:35

She sounds like a bullying bitch who is trying to encourage her own child to be a bully as well.

thefirstmrsrochester · 24/04/2022 19:36

God she sounds dreadful. And yes, she is training her child to become a bully.

What is an important stranger?

custardbear · 24/04/2022 20:04

Probably the school bully, teaching her children how to be the next generation of school bullies - stupid ignorant woman

LuckySantangelo35 · 24/04/2022 20:05

What a twat she sounds

DinaofCloud9 · 24/04/2022 20:05

She's talking like that to a 1 year old? How bizarre.

What is an important stranger?

@Somuddled

OP is an important stranger because she is a collegue of his mother
