AIBU to say something?

Hello all,

Not sure if AIBU so thought I'll post here.

So. I'm really quite a chilled person and think of myself as a chilled neighbour. Noise does not bother me, loud music, arguing, building works (nothing bothers me as a neighbour). I grew up in a big family, so I feel safe where there's a lot of noice. In fact, if I heard any "nuisance" noise from neighbours, I would be worried as opposed to getting annoyed at them. That's my persona.

Recently, a neighbour of ours got a puppy. Which is absolutely fine. The neighbour brings the dog to the communicable garden to wee and poo (I guess the dog has to do it business somewhere). But the dog keeps on digging, to the point where the communal garden is filled with all these holes or brown patches. It looks terrible and it makes me so itchy everytime I look at it. (I have a fear of holes... forgot they name.. tra.... please don't judge me.

Anyway, I don't know if AIBU to say something to my neighbour about this? Should I say something? Is this normal for dogs to do and are we expected just to put up with it?

I can't help with your problem I'm afraid, but the word you were looking for is trypophobia. Solidarity from a fellow sufferer 💐

Thanks! But don’t really want to start expecting this from now on.

Do you mean the communal garden? That's not okay. Do you have a garden management committee or anything? The dog shouldn't be allowed to dig holes. They're a trip hazard (quite apart from your tryptophobia).

Yes the communal garden (stupid iPhone auto type!). It’s just a horrible site- what can I do? Hello

Gross - I'd have a problem with someone's dog seeing and pooing all over a communal garden. Must stink. Tell your neighbour it's a garden, not a toilet.

SeedyBloomer · 21/04/2022 22:58

They definitely shouldn’t be letting a dog use a communal garden as a regular toilet and place to dig. Really unacceptable. I have two dogs and they would never be allowed to wreck a place that doesn’t belong to me!

Bringinglightandpeace · 21/04/2022 23:21

I agree. I’m going to say something to the neighbour.

Did you? If the dog has had its shots it should be going out fir walks, not fouling or digging in the communal garden. Poo can be collected but wee will ruin the grass. And they should put right any hikes. Definitely say something if you haven't already, just don't be aggressive about it.
