Hey everyone I've had a sore throat for like 2 days however it was only on one side today I woke up and my throat got worse looked in the mirror and my tonsillitis and throat was very sore and red and had a bit of white spots on them

I decided to do a covid test just to make sure and one of my test is negative but the other one has a very faint positive so not sure what to think I made a gp appointment they are going to call me soon

I have no fever but my throat is very sore I can still eat and drink I do feel under the weather I've had covid twice and never had a sore throat with them but I know each time can be different

What's you guys suggestions?x

Do another test tomorrow when you get up no eating or drinking before hand. Follow instructions exactly.

ParentalAdvisoryExplicitContent · 21/04/2022 19:49

Youngest DD has had this for 2 weeks, GP said vital tonsillitis but she had a positive covid test a few days later so I'm assuming it's that. 2 weeks in and still quite bad.

cocoo43 · 21/04/2022 19:49

@Moochio thanks I will deffo do that ... I also made sure I didn't eat or drink anything before doing the test so not sure what went wrong

We have just had covid and our main and almost only symptom was a horrible sore throat. Both me and DS were the same. Thing this latest strain presents differently.

Oh you might not have done anything wrong. The line tomorrow should be a bit stronger if it I'd covid I'd imagine.

millymollymoomoo · 21/04/2022 20:10

white spots on tonsils will almost defo be tonsillitis

cocoo43 · 21/04/2022 20:10

These are the tests not visually noticeable one is negative and the other one has a very skinny Line

If you have a faint positive you have covid, surely?

Merryoldgoat · 21/04/2022 20:11

The bottom looks like it’s got a positive. It will be darker tomorrow. Exactly the sand happened to me.

cocoo43 · 21/04/2022 20:13

@Merryoldgoat funny enough that one is negative but the top one has the faint line 🤣

Mine started as a funny feeling in throat then became sore. Tested positive with a faint line which the next day came up straight away a dark positive. Hope you feel better soon x

cocoo43 · 21/04/2022 20:18

I woke up yesterday morning with one sore tonsil. Positive covid swab straight away, confirmed by pcr. Was half expecting it as my boyfriend tested pos Tuesday. My only symptom is an itchy throat 🤷🏼‍♀️

Lemondrop2 · 21/04/2022 20:23

You can have both.

I had Covid. I also had Strep throat. I needed antibiotics for the Strep throat.

I rang 111 and was prescribed antibiotics over the phone (they emailed the prescription to my local pharmacy).

Oh poor thing!

OP - i can't see any lines. If you shine a torch behind them that can help

😂😂😂

hope you feel better soon. I had covid a month ago and only had one bad day. However I got a very bad cold the following week which absolutely floored me and my son. Utter horror around at the moment.

Merryoldgoat · 21/04/2022 22:00

Oh yes, if you adjust the contrast on your pic it can highlight a very faint line for confirmation

Pigeontoed · 22/04/2022 08:18

I currently have covid, and fo me it's presenting exactly like a bad bout of tonsilitis. Hideous. Hope you get well soon.

RiskyReels · 22/04/2022 08:24

My DD had covid which started with sore throat and white spots on the tonsils, I was convinced it was tonsillitis to begin with (she's had that several times before) but the sore throat cleared up quickly without antibiotics and all the other subsequent symptoms were classic covid e.g. loss of taste.

Hope you have a mild case and feel better soon!

soulinablackberrypie · 22/04/2022 11:12

I don't see why you couldn't have both. Tonsillitis just means inflamed tonsils - you can have them as the result of a bacterial infection or a virus (or possibly even some other reason, like them being directly irritated by something). The treatment is different if it's viral, but the symptom is the same. I can imagine some people might get tonsillitis as part of Covid because it presents in so many different ways. I think if you have a positive test you have to assume it's Covid.
