to expect a phone call or interview if unsuccessful at an interview

So I did an interview last Wed and hadn't heard so I emailed them today - they've been closed for easter since last Thurs - and I got a bit of a narky email back saying they had 'updated the online form' before Easter. I never thought to check that - I mean the application was online, and I submitted my application online. But all the arrangments were done by email and by telephone, so I never thought to check 'the system'. I checked it and yes , the word "unsuccessful" was put in, in a space beside my application.

It's fine, I should have checked it, I'll know to in future, but am I old fashioned that I never thought to check i.

I agree they should have contacted you but an email would suffice, I don’t think a call is required. If you then ask for feedback on your interview, it would be great if they provided it via a call (but email at the very least).

Unfortunately that's the way it goes these days. Good luck next time

Unfortunately YABU to expect a call, or face to face rejection.

I think an email is usual these days, a lot of the time they dont reply at all.

How rude! (of them)

It's likely them marking you as 'unsucessful' would have triggered an automated email to inform you of the fact, which you obviously didn't receive - they often end up in spam.
I personally don't use the automated emails if I've interviewed somebody, always a personalised email as to why, at the very least.
