Why is there so many second hand but new items on fbm?

ive recently got a new house and I’m trying to furnish it with second hand items. I’m looking on Facebook marketplace.

there are so many items that are new and boxed. For example swoon furniture is so expensive but lots of people are putting on ‘new’ items at about 10% of the price.

when you look on the profiles, they have a garage full of drawers and sideboards.

how are they getting all these items to then sell on so cheap.

im worried I’m funding criminal activity.

They probably bought it all during lockdown when everyone was shopping online and have now come to the realization that the items either don't work or that they can't use them. I know that I've got a load of stuff that I'm looking at sideways...

They're either knock-offs (beware chemical loaded, cheap, Chinese shit), stolen or regretted purchases.

There’s a shop (lock up unit) near me that sells furniture overstocks, misdeliveries and old styles. Something like that maybe? Their stock is massively hit n miss. They get stuff from Loaf, Next, Argos BBC and unbranded.

My cousin buys loads of shit that it turns out she doesn’t like or chooses to go a different way in terms of decorating.. I’m sick of seeing her selling shit but I have bought some 😬

I get the impression that they aren’t regret purchases as every few days a set of swoon drawers appear on their page.

i hadn’t considered knockoff purchases.

stolen, employee discount or returns might be likely.

Also it’s not like they are old stock as it’s still possible to buy the item on the official website at full price!
