Posting for traffic.

has anyone withdrew their passport (replacement) application and booked a fast track? So stuck on what to do! Looking for similar experiences

It can take them a couple of week to actually withdraw it before you can do the fast track.

how quickly do you need it and when did you submit your original l application ?

Exhaustedcog · 20/04/2022 19:12

I was at passport office yesterday doing fast track. Be aware I had to wait three weeks for the fast track service and I heard the lady say the next appointment available in London office was 10th may and Peterborough was 5th may… probably better to wait it out.

PawPatrolPosse · 20/04/2022 19:34

I need my passport by 8th June. I applied on April 6th for a renewal and then realised I lost it so it turned into a replacement which was then told it would cause a delay. Arghh don’t know what to do!

I am trying to figure out how to do the opposite. I booked fast track but couldn’t get to the appointment to pick it up. Now my passport is held hostage at the passport office with no way god me to get it. No appointments available for me to pick it up, and even if there were I have to wait for elusive call-back to be able to book in.

I am considering reporting it lost or stolen so I can apply via post instead.

Oh god, I had to apply for a replacement, Application went in on 20th March, I needed it for 28th April, thought that would be okay. You've got longer and you're worried - that makes me feel VERY worried!! My daughter's first passport I applied 17th March and it's just been printed. Not received yet. I HATE this waiting. I called the passport advice line and they said I could pay to turn it into fasttrack and someone would call me back to take payment. Nobody has called yet - two days later.

mum11970 · 20/04/2022 21:34

Have you tracked your passport online? Renewed dd’s passport (first adult) back in Feb/March and it only took 3/4 weeks. Once printed they don’t take long to arrive.

PawPatrolPosse · 20/04/2022 21:56

Yes tracked online and it’s still saying “send old passport” which they know I can’t as I’ve lost it and provided them with the lost reference number. They’ve now flagged my application up on the system to get it changed.

Have you still not received yours?! Do you still need it for next week?

I helped my son apply for a renewal passport. He has had a child’s one previously, but this is his first adult one.
We applied online 10/4/2022. The supporting documents ( just old passport in his case) were received 14/4/2022, and the new passport was approved 19/4/2022.
I don’t know how long it will take to print, but considering there were 2 Bank Holidays within that time I am seriously impressed.
I hope others are as fortunate.

MurmuratingStarling · 20/04/2022 23:06

Did you book your trip away before getting your passport? Or before checking the date of expiry?!

Rookie error. WHY do people do this?

passportpanics · 20/04/2022 23:12

Oh no, I feel for you. I’d wait it out, but also put a contingency plan in place now in case it’s not sorted in time.
I applied for my passport 1st April and it was printed yesterday. So that’s quite a quick turnaround (hoping very much to get it tomorrow). So there is hope!

theres plenty of reasons why people do this. Not that I need to explain myself. I booked it within plenty of time to get a new passport but I decided I was not going anymore due to issues at home and then recently decided to go without realising it now takes 10 weeks. We aren’t stupid. Shit happens

Really tricky to book a fast track appointment and a massive hastle. Hang tough. 6 weeks is plenty of time for them to get it sorted form here.

ReadtheReviews · 21/04/2022 15:36

Yep. Still waiting. The baby's is printed and waiting to be sent. The 6 year old's is just in the processing stage still. I've emailed an address I got for upgrades at the Liverpool office and spoken to an advisor who said not to worry....Argh. When I applied the time was 5 weeks and I had given it 5 weeks. If it was just a holiday it wouldn't be so bad but I've basically broken the bank getting the family to see my father for the first time in 3 years - he's usually much further away and it would cost much more. Will be very sad if oldest granddaughter doesn't get to see him.

ReadtheReviews · 22/04/2022 13:09

Well it is certainly worth speaking to a number of different advisors! The initial one hadn't submitted my upgrade request, hence why I wasn't passed the email address for the evidence. The next one told me I should have emailed them before they phone me. The next one said no, they would phone before I emailed them. He then put me through to someone I could pay, she then said, no I couldn't pay her but she'd put through an upgrade request. Upon her doing that, I've had the email and sent the evidence (again, I had already sent with the address you'd given me above, but it hadn't generated an automated reply which this one HAS). I am now waiting for the phone call to discuss and pay but I've had to give them my landline as my mobile is patchy where I live so now I'm stuck at home for the next 48 hours! Also, very strong possibility I will have to travel to Liverpool to collect it to skip the delivery part of the process!

gwanwyn · 22/04/2022 13:27

We sent a child renew and renewal from child to adult in at same time - child took 4 weeks but we've only just had the update for adult one saying they recieved old passport when actually they had it and signed for it day after application was done.

Family friends had had widely different time frames as well - seems very inconsistent.

I'd be getting some advice from the passport office given your situation and probably do it now so there is time to do something different.

saltnvinegarlover · 22/04/2022 13:36

I ordered our replacement passports on the 15th March and got them through this week

dreamersdown · 22/04/2022 20:25

A word of caution from a similarly frustrated person!

I was advised by the Passport Office to cancel my daughter’s passport application and go fast track to receive it in time. I was told to send it recorded delivery to Liverpool and that it would take 2 weeks to be cancelled.

I went to my fast track appointment this morning (3 weeks after the cancellation was signed for) to be told that the cancellation HADN’T been processed yet and that I couldn’t use the fast track process. The only advice they could give me was to “call Liverpool and see if they can find it in the post room”. (I’ve spent 3 hours on the phone to them today - it is impossible to be put through to Liverpool). Not only that, but it’s now impossible to get another fast track appointment for the next month.

Utter, utter shambles.
