To be pissed at my mum

I'll keep it short. Spend Easter day with mother, partner, brother and his girlfriend. When brother leaves he is given a bag with Easter eggs for him and gf in front and us by and mum, but we don't get one. The bag also has Easter eggs in from us after mum asked if we were getting one. AIBU to be pissed off we didn't get Easter eggs. BTW we are all adults now!

Just don't bother next year

user75 · 20/04/2022 08:52

Did you ask why?

Duchess379 · 20/04/2022 13:13

I'd have asked 'where's ours?'

Gymnopedie · 20/04/2022 14:13

Let me guess. DB is the golden child and this isn't the first time you've been treated less favourably?

CarlCarlson · 20/04/2022 14:15

Do you mean “pissed off”?

“Pissed” means drunk

I’ve decided I’m not giving Easter gifts anymore. Went to mums, who had got us all something but she and my dad on diet so got them a plant, brother turns up all, oh I thought everyone is on a diet, and then says the shops were shut so he didn’t get anything, but he was planning getting mum flowers, SO, I brought his box of biscuits I got him home, blooming annoying really as I too need to lose some weight and they are now calling to me from the cupboard 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

She may be American as they say that in place of 'p**d off'

It won't do you any favours in life to get upset or perplex over why people do things. People do all sorts of things for all sorts of reasons; they think it's right, they forgot, they had a wobble, they made something up in their heads that meant the thing had to be done that way.

I don't have time to care, which is brilliant. I've let it all completely go.

Don't want to spend time with me? Cool.
Ghost me? Okay.
Give someone more than you give me? Don't care.
Say something rude to me. Probably naturally won't want to spend time with you, problem solved.

If you can not care, do. It's liberating in the best possible way.

I'm British & I use this term to mean 'fed up'
Parentsofaprincess · 21/04/2022 09:06

Yes, meant pissed off!

Exactly, he can no wrong even when he does wrong. It is historical and always been favoured ove my DP. It is tough on her.

Parentsofaprincess · 21/04/2022 09:09

We also have a daughter, he doesn't have kids, and he didn't get her an Easter egg. Yet mum asked me to get him and egg....

SleeplessInEngland · 21/04/2022 09:13

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I would cut all contact with her for the rest of your life.

Mooloolabababy · 21/04/2022 09:19

How old is you brother? Did your mum get your dd an Easter egg? Did you tell your brother that you didn't get him an egg but that it was from your mum with your name on it? What did you mum say when you asked her why you didn't get an egg?

I assume you are being sarcastic

He is 27! Yes she did. I did get him and egg, she also.got him an egg. Not confronted mum about it yet.

nondiddunondiddu · 22/04/2022 08:55

I'm cringing at the idea that adults are getting chocolate eggs and squabbling over them. "Let them eat cake" comes to mind

FabFitFifties · 22/04/2022 09:11

If your mum bought your daughter an egg, I would assume that when your brother has a child she will do the same, ie buy for his child not him. The unreasonable bit, is telling you to buy him an egg.

FabFitFifties · 22/04/2022 09:14

I wouldn't confront your mum, she thinks she is being fair. Just don't buy him an egg next year. You are getting very worked up about this - considering your child actually got an egg.

Knifer · 22/04/2022 09:17

I'd be annoyed at being instructed to get my brother an Easter egg. As an adult, I don't really want Easter eggs but if I did, I'd buy the one I wanted for myself. I wouldn't want to buy one under instruction just to exchange it for a different one. That seems foolish to me
