Perimenopause or something else?

Posting here for traffic.
I have had brain fog for some months now and yesterday my joints started aching. I still get periods though at 44. I have no hot sweats or insominia yet but i do get a bit of rage. Moreover i look more crepey.
Is this perimenopause and is it too soon to nag the dr?

Me too! And I'm exactly the same age... following shamelessly as I also wondered if it was long covid?

Have a look at this. https://assets.jeanhailes.org.au/Health-professionals/MenopausesymptommscaleGreeneeClimacteric.pdf
I would say it's highly likely it is is peri. Dr Louise newson does a great podcast and has developed the Balance App and has some great info on her website.

Anybody have severe muscle and bone pain with perimenopause, am getting really 😟

KangarooKenny · 23/04/2022 16:58

I would say so, you might be better popping over to the menopause board.
I started with achy joints, periods became regular/closer together/heavier, and my PMT went mental.
Even now I don’t get hot flushes, and I sleep well.

And I started taking cod liver oil for the joints], and it seems to help.

Joint pain could be peri plus vit D deficiency. Most of us in U.K. are vit D deficient at the end of winter. Perhaps go to GP and get blood tests to rule out deficiencies?

Yes, this is most certainly perimenopause related. It is perfectly common to still menstruate regularly whilst go through this phase - perimenopause can last for up to a decade and some might experience all symptoms, others few/none.

The crepey skin and aching joints are due to lowering oestrogen levels.
