Pregnant and Struggling to find rental properties South England

Hi,

I am 28 weeks pregnant and currently living at my partner's parent's house. We are struggling to find somewhere to live, I'm a temp worker meaning I'll have to go onto maternity pay, and he is self-employed. We earn around 30,000 together, all of these factors are making it less desirable for landlords. We can't get a 1 bed as landlords are concerned about wear and tear yet we can't get a 2 bed as we won't be able to pass the affordability test. I have contemplated not saying that I'm pregnant but then I'm concerned about having to deal with the stress of the landlord being funny and finding some way to kick us out. We are desperate now, and contemplating finding another couple who don't mind having a baby waking up all hours to share a house with.

Any advise? Is anyone else struggling with this?

Your pregnancy is not your landlord’s business. It is a business arrangement. You pay the rent and undertake to look after the property in accordance with the contract. So keep quiet about that. You aren’t hiding anything by not telling them. It is simply not relevant.

Why are you telling them you're pregnant?

Unfortunately that's a very low income Anyway your partner could pick up a 2nd job?
