My coil.

I couldn't feel the strings. Told by GP surgery that the nurse specialist was the only one able to help. Next appointment 3 weeks away.

So I went in Thursday. Nurse couldn't see strings. Done pregnancy test, positive. EPU referral, same day scan

Can't find coil. They don't know where it is. Very good chance it fell out but still a possibility it's in there Confused

I knew something wasn't right. I had hypermesis with other two DC so didn't expect to be pregnant as I had reliable contraception and I wasn't unwell

I have however been feeling faintly sick the last few days and my MH as in low mood has been awful for weeks!

Shouldn't they do an x ray to try and find this coil

I feel so cheated: I know they have a failure rate but I honestly thought I was safe Sad Now I'm left having to decide if I can terminate a 14 week old pregnancy. Im 100% pro choice but not sure termination can be done on myself due to previous loss. I know what a baby of this gestation is like when out

I just want to sob.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I can only imagine what you're facing right now.

If there's any chance you want to keep this baby then I'm quite sure they won't want do an x-ray of your pelvic region due to the radiation.

I have no idea what to suggest other than ask to speak urgently to an obstetric consultant to discuss your options.

A hard decision for you and I really feel for you Flowers

No xray if keeping the baby.
I'm sorry op. I hope you have lots of support around you whilst you come to a decision Flowers

Sorry op, I’d want to know too, but not sure there is anything that can be done. Occasionally I have read reports in papers of babies being born holding coils.
I wish you well in your decision.

Thank you Thanks

You wouldn’t be X-rayed to find a coil, and especially not if you’re pregnant. If present, it’d show up on an ultrasound.

But if the strings couldn’t be found and you are indeed pregnant, I would hazard a guess that it isn’t there at all and has fallen out at some point.
