AIBU to ask why I can do lots of HITT type exercise but struggle walking up hill?

I do maybe 4 x circuit classes a week, where HITT style exercises is included in between weights, boxing, strength work. I'm 52, post meno, and I can hold my own in those classes.

But weirdly (and now I don't know if it's become a psychological thing), if I start walking up hill (or if i go quickly up a flight of stairs), I can start to feel really breathless quite quickly. Then I get panicked, then it feels worse etc.

Is this because I'm not doing any cardio that's about endurance? I'm not using my lung capacity? Should I be doing more?

Or is this something I should be concerned about? My dad has heart issues, as did his parents - but I'm guessing I'd find all exercise tough if this was the issue...?
