To ask if marriage counselling worked for you?

My Husband and I were childhood sweethearts.

Married young, still only in our 30s now.

I can't say a lot in detail due to being outing but lots of grief (loss of parents, miscarriages etc) and I had a mental breakdown and I'm controlling depression and anxiety with medication now.

We split in October, his choice not mine. I went away for a little while and tried to pick up the pieces left of me.

We have kept in touch and we are starting marriage counselling next week, I still love him very much and he says he does me too.

I know this is going to be hard and gruelling but I just wanted to hear any success stories or if it didn't work for you. I'm very apprehensive as I'm quite emotional when talking about the losses, the split etc.

It worked in so much as we bonded over how crap she was.

Im not married but we saw a councillor just before lockdown
If we hadn’t,we wouldn’t be together now-I was a week from walking out
We got to the root of our problems and sorted them out without blame
I’d recommend it 100%

Happy to hear it was a success for you @Brightrainbow x

We found it helpful; DH finds it really hard to communicate his feelings and she was able to bring it out and some of the underlying misinterpretations we’d ended up with got sorted out. It was also important to me as a sign of commitment from DH as counselling isn’t really something he’s comfortable with so I knew by going he was putting the effort in.
