To complain about loud music in neighbour’s garden?

New neighbours behind our garden play music all day if they're not working and it’s spring/summer. I don’t feel I can relax in my garden and indoors I can still hear it clearly.
I had a look at my council website to see if there is any guidance about what I can complain about, but it’s very vague. It just says they can deal with noise from neighbours.
Does anyone know anything about what I should expect to put up with and at what point I could complain? I’m not going to speak to the neighbours directly as I think it’s most likely that they would be unreasonable about it.

If you aren't prepared to speak politely with them and ask them to reduce the volume a bit I think it would be unreasonable of you to expect anyone else to do anything about it.

Agreed. You have to at least try asking them if they can reduce the volume before you start trying to pull the council into it

@op you've got my sympathy. I had neighbours like this once, they were perfectly pleasant but saw nothing wrong in playing their music loudly in the garden. A few times i asked them to turn it dow , if for example I had visitors but it irritated me so much when I was just wanting to have a quiet coffee and didn't have a "reason" to ask. I was so happy when they moved eventually, replaced by some very noisy preschoolers but their noise was never the same type of annoying and it was nice to hear them play.

Around here it appears to be the done thing to simply buy a more powerful sound system and drown them out Grin Sorry, not helpful.
