To ask how often you buy your dc toys?

We really only buy them at Christmas and birthdays.

MAYBE...Something when we are on holiday or in the middle of the summer. Like one soft toy or a game.

It's not that we can't afford to,it's just not something we do..

What do you do?

We are similar, with a couple of outdoor toys for the garden when the weather warms up as both DC have winter birthdays but that's about it.

They get so many toys at once we often put them away and get them out throughout the year though.

Prefer to treat to days out rather than toys the rest of the time.

We are the same, just get them for birthday and Christmas. Other people sometimes gift them or pass them on randomly and between all that, there's always plenty.

Just Christmas and birthdays. If we go on holiday he gets spending money and he can buy what he wants.

Ours are older now so I suppose the only comparison to toys is video games which they still enjoy. I don't mind treating them to the odd one here and there during the year or putting some money towards it. Same approach with toys I guess.

My kids birthdays are all quite close to Christmas so we do buy them small things throughout the year as well, but generally if they want something they buy it with Christmas/Birthday/holiday money from relatives.

They are only 2 and 5 so that money goes a long way - they are very happy with small bits, secondhand things from marketplace or the charity shop, magazines and sweets. I'm sure as they get older and want more expensive or specific toys they will get pocket money which they can save to buy it.

My dc’s are past toy-buying age now (sob) but we were Christmas and birthdays also. Perhaps the only exception was toys for the garden in the summer etc.

Birthday and Christmas only.
We try to encourage them not to be too materialistic and to think about the environment by not having too much stuff. We use the library for books and used the local toy library when they were smaller.

Birthdays and Christmas only.
I we can afford more often but why would we?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 17/04/2022 20:38

Crafts and colouring relatively regularly.
Toys- probably a couple between bday (august) and Christmas- I got my daughter a barbie in March for being so good at school (wasn’t a bribe as decided to treat her).
