Following a similar thread about Manchester airport and que times ect..

Has anyone flew from Birmingham airport recently? How were the ques?

We're due to fly next month with a 1 year old and older child and starting to worry about the potentially queing

I flew from Birmingham a couple of weeks ago. The airline recommended arrival at the airport 2.5 hours before the fight, which I did. I got through in plenty of time.

I’m not sure if you can book the express security with children but that might be worth considering?

NightOwl101 · 17/04/2022 08:13

Thank you, I have tried to book the express but it says unavailable for my date and time. I will keep checking though in case it becomes available closer to the date

Friends flew out Friday. Booked the fast pass per person and were through in under half an hour.

We’re flying in a few weeks and will do the same. Though I suspect it’ll be quieter because we’re going in term time.

HerkyBaby · 17/04/2022 08:44

Friends flew out from there this morning but had to check in luggage yesterday afternoon. Good luck

If you can get fast passes for security then buy them.
Another trick is after you’ve checked your bags in. Ignore the long queue waiting to go up the escalator to security and walk towards the TUI check in. There are 2 lifts that bypass the long queue.
We went straight up. Couldn’t believe no one was using the lifts.

We are also flying from bham next month. Have booked fast passes thankfully.

@ihatethecold we are flying with Tui also. If you do online check in, does that mean you can buy pass the tui check in queue? and just use the bag drop machine. We are staying over night at the airport and I was hoping to check in the night before but it seems birmingham doesn't have this option like Manchester. Would love to get up in the morning amd just go straight to security but will still have to put suitcases through in the morning?

We flew out from Birmingham on Good Friday afternoon. Very worried about queues and got there 3 hours before flight but honestly it was no busier than normal. I would say check in queue 15 mins and security queue about the same. We had express lane security but the standard security was not busy - in fact they pulled us out and put us in a standard lane as that was quicker.

I was chatting to the agent at check in and they said it was much busier in the morning as more flights leaving then but that queues were well organised and managed. So it does sound as if it depends somewhat on time of day.

Hope you have a super trip.

@CJay81
We used the fast track drop off for bags even though we haven’t properly checked in.
The staff just helped us to do it. They were great.

Somemothersdoavem · 17/04/2022 10:06

Hi, flew from Birmingham last week, the queues were awful. Got there 2 hours before, bag drop off queue not too bad but one queue to security which took nearly an hour just to get to security. Staff off sick due to Covid and lots of people travelling. First time at airport since pandemic though.

Quitefranklymydear · 17/04/2022 10:08

We flew at 5pm last Thursday and it was a breeze, not an express pass.

FusionChefGeoff · 17/04/2022 10:09

We flew on 4th April flight was 14.10 we arrived 11.00 and hardly any queues anywhere!

NightOwl101 · 18/04/2022 08:59

For those that checked in their bags the night before, were you contacted directly by your airline to do this?
