What brands to you tend to have as a go to for clothes shoes and bags?

I realise there is a broad spectrum here from charity shops to Chanel and everything on between, but where do you mostly get your things from?

Mine are Matalan, Supermarkets and sports shop. Quite dull and looking to mix it up a bit. Perhaps including the likes of next and M and S a bit more.

The Style and Beauty board might have some good ideas OP, lots of discussions there re brands etc if you need ideas.

I thought most people grew out of giving a shit about fashion brands by the time they leave school

ShirleyBadass · 17/04/2022 06:43

Mango, Zara and H&M are my go-to's...

Sexnotgender · 17/04/2022 06:45

Rapanui for basics, they do great T-shirts.

Yes but things you wear have to come from somewhere and I'm looking to mix my mundane style up a bit.

I don't know. I find most places hit and miss, although I don't shop premium brands so maybe that's why.

I love lots of Zara styles... but on the model. On me, or other regular lumpy bodies, not so flattering.

PinkSyCo · 17/04/2022 07:05

Ah this is where we will be able to tell the haves from the have nots. In answer to your question my ‘brand’ is whoever’s having the best sale. I especially like Asos because they often send me a 20% off sale code. Supermarkets like Asda do lovely baby clothes and are good for basic adult clothes too.

OP - mine are Oliver Bonas, Whistles and River Island for jeans (all can also be found on Vinted often!)

FusionChefGeoff · 17/04/2022 07:23

Next and H&M - Next is generally shit and overpriced but there's a big one 2 minutes from my house so it often wins on convenience

TirisfalPumpkin · 17/04/2022 07:33

Uniqlo, Weekday, h&m, with the occasional Cos/Toast treat

OP buys clothes from Matalan and supermarkets so her question's hardly coming from a place of brand snobbery is it? Did you mean to be so rude or are you incapable of reading tone?
cherrypiepie · 17/04/2022 07:55

Following with interest.

Same as you OP. Matala/Asda/Tesco Primark/new look/ next/ tk maxx and Sainsburys are what we have locally and the nearest huge shopping centere isn't very good for me any more now house of Fraser and Debenhams have shut. 40+ size 16 isn't dont fit in Zara. Don't like joules/ white stuff / seasalt etc

marks and spender looks great but things rarely fit or have a weird tie on the neck of most dresses but that is my problem so try them as they have great jeans and dresses and basic tops!

New look is great for more fashionable items for nice cullotes and tops from there

I can't get on with online shopping either. Hm is good when I go further afield.

Used to love warehouse but it's not the same as the store (sizes and fit)

I do like vinted it's fab and resell stuff that's not right. Got some older warehouse pieces in there for hols and some next shorts.

I feel I'm in a rut! Not loving anything I've bought recently and feels like a waste as keep buying more tat!

I've had also two stitchfix boxes which are nice too and get things from there (they pick you 5 items and send them to you and you keep what you want or send it all back but if you send it back there is a £10 charge). I've kept kne from each box so far.

I don’t do brands when it comes to clothes, I have developed a liking for Long Tall Sally though as it’s nice to find clothes that actually fit. Other than that I just buy clothes from Next.

I am chuffed with my new wellies though! Muck Boots - so warm and comfortable, highly recommended for anyone who wears wellies a lot!

BrieForTea · 17/04/2022 08:05

New look, asos, Russell and Bromley

ImAvingOops · 17/04/2022 08:08

I think it depends on what you are buying. For bras I still go with M&S, for leggings and sweatshirts Victoria's Secret. Anything else I don't have a set brand for but will look everywhere and buy wherever I find what I want.
For my kids, their brands of choice are ASOS, urban outfitters (overpriced imo) Nike, and sports shops.

ThatshallotBaby · 17/04/2022 08:08

I like Hush. Mainly buy it on eBay. I want to try Vinted. Have you got a good mate you could go shopping with? Try on lots of clothes and get some honest answers. TkMaxx can be a treasure trove.

thebear1 · 17/04/2022 08:09

I tend to shop online with next and marks and Spencer as I can collect and return to store really easily.

LaTangerina · 17/04/2022 08:12

I really like River Island right now for jeans, also next is great for jeans/jeggings. I usually only buy jeans when they're half price, including river island ones from the Next sale.
I recently discovered I Saw It First which has been a revolution for me for t shirts. They fit long in the body & fitted & flattering so very happy with finding them!
I love Joe Brown's as well, I bought a beautiful coat from them.
I only tend to shop on sale/clearance though, the exception being for I Saw It First but they often have offers on tops.

ssd · 17/04/2022 08:17

If money was no object and i was taller and skinnier I'd go to hush, mint velvet and reiss. As it is, i go to asda, sainsburys and tesco.

Sexnotgender · 17/04/2022 08:21

Do people misunderstand what the word brand means? Saying I don’t do brands then saying I shop at M&S or wherever is bizarre.

TenoringBehind · 17/04/2022 08:22

Hush
Boden
Seasalt

I am a MN middle aged cliche.

Primark
High fashion market stuff
Fairfax & Favour

Mooloolabababy · 17/04/2022 08:42

Think I'd have to say Sainsbury’s, H&M and Dorothy Perkins. I do also really like oasis, but it's a bit too pricey for my budget.
