Hair extensions gone lank and stringy

Had a pixie crop cut on 11th March, which was a mistake.
Anyway I had some extensions put in on Monday, human hair allegedly.
Then had them trimmed into a long bob as I wanted it to blend better with my own short hair.

I plait them at night, gently comb them, haven't washed them yet (was advised only once a week) however they already look in poor condition.

I've attached a photo. They feel very grimy, i haven't put any products on them. Feel like taking it out but I've only had them in 5 days so would just be a waste of money.

I only cut my hair just under 5 weeks ago so I know I'm looking at a good 3 months before I can have a very short bob.

Anyone else had/have extensions and have any advice?

Agreed, I’d give them a good wash and style, they’ll puff up a bit. But it really does depend on the quality of the hair as to how good they look.

They will feel better once you wash them - they are usually coated in a silicone to start with, once this washes out it will be fine

Yep, came to agree with PP - they are coated with silicone so tend to go a bit grotty like this. If you try a clarifying shampoo (or a bit of washing up liquid if you can’t find some!), this should clear some off and make them fluffier. Persevere!
