There was a book I read (I think as part of the school ciriculum) in the 90s. It was about a girl on a trip to Whitby (might of been a school trip) and she needed to defeat a vampire.
She sucked a stick of rock until it was pointy and turned it into a stake, I always eat my rock like this now

She also visited a beach that I also frequent with my son, hunting for the book as we visited today and will be visiting next week, he also loves vampires and creepy stuff! Urgent as we have a book assignment for the Easter holidays
