Ok I know many of you will think YABU, I’ve read so many negative things about the UK here lately (I know a holiday is not the same as living there). But, after 3 years I’ve finally booked a long weekend to go to Edinburgh (not from the UK). And the sad things I look forward to? To be able to fill my suitcase with McCoy’s salt & vinegar (I used to order them online, but they’ve been out of stock for months), to shop at M&S and even Primark Home. To go to Sainsbury’s or Tesco! Eat at Five Guys. To buy pickled onions. Just walk around the lovely town. Things I wouldn’t even have cared much about 10 years ago. But I am so looking forward to it! The little things. 🙃

Thank you @WimpyKidYouNot, we’ve been there quite a few times during 20 yrs or so..but not since the pandemic, and it’s funny what you actually end up looking forward to!

I'm from Edinburgh! You'll have a ball (pack a jumper though).

MrsSkylerWhite · 15/04/2022 21:21

Edinburgh is not unreasonable, in any circumstances.

Agree. I’ll never get tired of it. Or McCoys chips. 😬

Thank you, I do know that. I’ve been to America with my family 20+ times. 🙂 Still like it though. Like I said, little things..

@HappyGoDucky we can’t go as far as America right now, our teenagers will absolutely be happy with Five Guys in Edinburgh. So will I. Or a toasted sandwich at M&S even. 🙂

Which ones? The flight is short enough, I could bring a cooler bag. 🤔😬

Unless you mean McCains chips.

You are right. Crisps is called chips here. McCains chips I can do without. Thanks.

Ok, we’ll be staying at a pretty decent hotel and will also be going out for nice food. Have teenagers used to travelling (eating at extremely nice restaurants) and they like Five Guys. I don’t mind either this time tbh. Any recommendations for nice restaurants in Edinburgh?
