Baby doll

Hi all, so my daughter asked for a baby doll from my mum for Easter as we can't find hers anywhere. So she chose a baby annabel from a quick video and my mum bought it for her and it arrived today. I had a baby annabel when I was younger and loved it so didn't think much of it.

But oh my gosh it's so different now! The noises it makes is so weird and realistic, making oh and ah baby noises and saying "mama mama". I find it super weird and creepy. And it's also really heavy! I don't know, it just makes me uncomfy. My daughter is 4. What do people think? Keep it or try swap it for one that doesn't make the noises etc. She really liked it!

If she likes it, you can't take it away - that'd be really mean!

It's your problem, don't make it your child's problem because of your irrational fear. It's a toy abd it can't hurt you. Let your daughter enjoy it.

If she’s already been given it you can hardly take it away now. I personally never liked crying dolls as a child - it upset me to hear them cry. So I’ve purposely only given my 4 year old dolls that don’t make a noise. She did get a Baby Annabell branded doll last Christmas but I chose the Sweet Dreams Mia (I think it was called) as that looks the same as a general Annabell but without any of the functions. It just closes its eyes when it’s laid down.

Presumably this one’s batteries will run out at some point and perhaps you won’t have any more batteries in the house when that happens?

Totally agree, I didn’t realise when I bought baby annabelle what she did. Ok I expected the noises actually but the face that moves when a bottle or dummy goes in her mouth - really odd!!!

Interestingly my daughter detests the sounds of crying in real life or on tv-audio books but isn’t bothered by annabelle 🤷‍♀️

Presumably it’s out the packaging now so you can’t exactly take it back. If she likes it, let it go. It would be mean to take it away now!
