AIBU to ask if you've had DC work in the civil service grad scheme? (Perhaps as an economist)

Hi,

Just wondering if any of you have had DC who did civil service grad schemes and worked as a government economist? Was the work interesting? How is the pay relative to the private sector and more 'corporate jobs'?

Overall do your DC enjoy the job?

My youngest did this. Really enjoyed the first year, not so much the second. Gained lots of valuable experience and a ridiculous salary for a brand new graduate. (£35k) Found the work interesting and challenging and liked the other staff members. Now moving into the private sector to broaden experience.

@oldestmumaintheworld thank you. I was worried that the pay in the civil service is less. But £35k for a fresh grad is awesome. Was it the Gov Econ service by any chance?
