To wonder why my iPad browsing history has disappeared?

Just that really. Can this happen spontaneously? Signed in this morning, and apart from browsing history being clear, several apps are now asking for my passwords. Confused

Obvious question but does anyone else use it?

CallMeBettyBoop · 14/04/2022 17:32

There's just me and DH at home now.

Sounds like he has deleted cookies and optimised the ipad. Normal "housekeeping" for ipads and computers. Computers should also be defrauded. I optimised my tablet last night, did it last month too.

Pixiedust1234 · 14/04/2022 17:36

Defragged*

What pixie said

Bit daft really, he should've mentioned it

TruffleShuffles · 14/04/2022 17:41

My iPhone updated in the last couple of days, to be fair this has never cleared out my browsing history but has before caused me to have to sign into apps again.

girafferaffle · 14/04/2022 17:44

Modern computers with ssds should not be defragged, feel the need to add this in case anyone wastes their time and write cycles. I also never need to optimise my tablet 😂.

It sounds weird to me. Like someone looked something up and overdid the cleaning up afterwards.

HostessTrolley · 14/04/2022 17:47

I would suspect that he’s been looking up something that he would rather you didn’t see in your search history. On the nice side, do you have a birthday or anniversary coming up?…..

crackingreward · 14/04/2022 17:50

It hasn't happened spontaneously, he must have done it. That doesn't mean he did it for any 'bad' reason. Maybe he keeps his history clear and was just tidying up? I'm like that so I always close apps and delete history on my iPad, I would automatically do it if I was using DHs

Coralblimey · 14/04/2022 17:52

Not necessarily, I clear my cookies regularly, especially when everything starts slowing down as it speeds stuff up again.

CallMeBettyBoop · 15/04/2022 19:06

That's just it. He denies clearing anything. Just wanted to know if it could happen spontaneously. Feel like I'm going mad.

I know my tablet has a makers app (samsung) to clear it all, think i can set it to automatically do it. Have you added a new antivirus or updated it and that's set to automatic?

Do you have it set to update software automatically? If so, that clears the history Smile

My phone does this all the time - just a lack of storage space on it. Probably the same on an iPad.
