Killing Eve

I know IBU for coming on here, and won’t post a spoiler for anyone who’s yet to watch, but I am absolutely furious at the ending. Such a disappointment in every way possible. I invested years of my life into this show and no other show has touched me in this way.

Anyone else feel the same?

To add, I was a youngster in the days of Boyzone, Take That and the Spice Girls and never felt anything when other girls were hysterically crying at their demise, but I’m really quite distraught at this flipping show! Absolutely mad and truly a first world problem.

I will report back when I've finished watching it, I want to binge it all on one go.

CarolynMartens · 13/04/2022 18:48

To be honest it’s been off the boil for a while, I was never really expecting a decent ending, but stuck with it anyway. S2 was good/ok but S3 was quite boring a lot of the time and that continued into S4. Though it is disappointing all the same.

I thought it should have stopped at the end of series one. I dutifully watched series 2 and at the end of that it was pretty clear to me they intended to string people along as long as possible.

TooManyUnits · 13/04/2022 18:52

I'm wondering whether to start watching Killing Eve as I need a new show to get stuck into - can I take it then that you would recommend it OP? Apart from the disappointing ending of course!

SafelySoftly · 13/04/2022 18:52

I disagree. I thought season 4 excellent after a slow start. So much imagery, amazing cinematography and use of music. And was Carolyn the complete mastermind or not. I enjoyed!

Can we try and not have spoilers? Like the OP said?
OatmilkandCookies · 13/04/2022 18:54

I've only seen the first two episodes of this season but I've not liked it nearly as much as the others and I was a massive fan of the other ones.

NellesVilla · 13/04/2022 18:56

Yes, @TooManyUnits, pls do watch it- the first season is outstanding. I fell slightly in love with V (books and TV series), hence the username.

I suppose we need to think of it as a long story that had a definitive ending, but preferred the more open ending in the books.

Final season had such a slow start that I nearly gave up. But the back in time bit, and Pam revived it for me.
I agree with the sentiment about the ending tho.

NellesVilla · 13/04/2022 18:57

And @CarolynMartens, you are not in my good books!

Shiiit, I’ve really lost the plot now, haven’t I??!! Oh well!

Oh, @SafelySoftly, the soundtrack was top notch. Have just downloaded ‘Walk on Yeah’, which I find to be v atmospheric and taking me to certain parts of their story.

@BadHairDayExpert, hopefully it could be interpreted in many different ways- it certainly had me guessing up until the end!

Oh, and for anyone else who enjoyed this, Orphan Black is another series that BBC America did. In a nutshell, it’s about these crazy clones and government espionage, bad vs good guys etc.
The clones (all of a young 20 something woman) are great (particularly as obviously, they’re all played by one, very skilled actress). The Russian clone (Helena) is terrifying, a really nasty piece of work, a cruel psychotic predator who fondly reminds me of Villanelle (or does Villanelle remind me of Helena?)!

Kukdoos · 13/04/2022 19:21

Tried watching it, but had to be turned off because of the unnecessary animal cruelty in one of the episodes.
I need the spoilers to see how it ends.

Oh I loved Orphan Black!

I think poor Helena was misunderstood and just wanted a loving family, I think she was my favourite character Grin

This is making me want to watch Killing Eve even more now...

NellesVilla · 13/04/2022 22:00

@TooManyUnits, I agree, Helena was fab. And Alison Hendrix as well. If Jodie hadn’t been available for the role, the girl in Orphan Black would’ve been great (Tatiana Maslany?).

I was very disappointed. Lots of unanswered questions and the ending felt rushed.

NellesVilla · 14/04/2022 22:40

Am going to watch the whole thing through again I think, to see if I can enjoy it more now I know what the ending is, if that makes sense. I still don’t completely get what the dickens the 12 were all about!

OP posts:
Hortensiateapot · 14/04/2022 22:59

I just don’t understand with facial recognition DNA and the police and all that, how they move between countries and passport control etc without being arrested for murder (all the assassins), was the camper van not reported stolen? I felt sorry for Helenes daughter and I think Eve’s story was completely unresolved at the end.

NellesVilla · 14/04/2022 23:04

I think we’re meant to suspend all belief on the facial recognition, @Hortensiateapot, or maybe they have private jets or are smuggled through travel routes as in trafficked? In the last book, Villaneve sneak over to Russia in a cargo ship!

And I know, poor Helene’s daughter, Kenny and lovely Bill. Someone asked me why I was so devastated about the outcome, considering V had brutally murdered poor Bill! And forgot about dear old Konstantin!
