Hard as in depressing. Residents who are slumped in chairs, most cannot communicate, essentially in a zombie like state. The odd one wandering around but no idea where they are.
It's eerily quiet as the residents can't really talk to each other. Just feel heartbroken for them.
I really enjoy the work and find it rewarding but it does depress me sometimes. A lot of them have no visitors either.
Does anyone else do this sort of work or care for relatives with dementia/Alzheimer's? How do you deal with this?
