Just a query? Thinking of going back to work part time after mat leave and wondered if I was being unreasonable expecting more?

Depends what it’s doing?

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 12/04/2022 12:19

How long is a piece of string? If I did 24 hrs pw I would earn less then that so from me, yes! But if youre used to earning 50k full time it won't be enough!

Comefromaway · 12/04/2022 12:21

It's £11.22 per hour which is a good rate for a service industry/llower level office type job but would be rubbish pay for something highly skilled with lots of responsibility.

grapewines · 12/04/2022 12:22

Piece of string territory. I've done a 40 hour week for 15k a year ecause that was the job I could get at the time. Depends what you're used to and how much you need the job.

Hairbrush123 · 12/04/2022 12:25

What sort of work is it?

titchy · 12/04/2022 12:32

Open heart surgeon - bloody awful salary. Factory work - better than NMW so ok.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 12/04/2022 12:33

Depends on the job. I earn less than that doing a 28 hour week but my job is piss easy and no stress.

SheWoreYellow · 12/04/2022 12:34

If it was full time it would be just under £22k. If full time is 37.5 hours a week. So it depends what you think about that.

CaptSkippy · 12/04/2022 12:36

I think it's on the low side. What industry?

TheSnowyOwl · 12/04/2022 12:39

What’s more important is the benefits to you of working over not working. Where I am, nursery costs for that period of time would be more than the salary.

PineappleWilson · 12/04/2022 12:41

Is that the pro rata salary or FTE and you'll get less than that in practise?

over2021 · 12/04/2022 12:43

£11.21 per hour. Quite significantly more than minimum wage (actually more than the London Living Wage too - £11.05)

This is mumsnet though where everyone earns six figures for a three day a week job...

irishfarmer · 12/04/2022 12:59

As pp's have said it really depends on what you do.

Would a FT salary for this work be around 23/24k per year? If yes then it's good. If a FT worker gets 40k per year you'd want 24k for 3 days.

Namechange12312 · 12/04/2022 13:24

Really depends on the job. I earn that doing 16hours pw. That’s south east, admin based but long service and very niche area.

Also consider job flexibility, location etc.

Hobbittingaroundtown · 12/04/2022 13:26

It’s on the low side - the FTE would be lower than the average salary. Is it enough to cover your childcare?
