Please help friendship dramas

My dd is in y7, came up to high school with only a couple of friends from primary school and is obviously trying to make new friends. She tried to organise a meet up at cinema with big group of girls during holidays. Some (4/5) could make it. It then changed to become a shopping trip as one didn’t like the film, fine, whatever. She met up with one of the girls today who told her that one girl has set up a WhatsApp group organising the meet-up and has excluded my dd. She messaged the girl tonight and asked her why she wasn’t included and the girl said that her mum told her she could only go with the other two girls. Anyway, I’m not very good with social stuff and group dynamics and don’t know how to help my dd now. Should she just try and meet up with the nice girl? Call the bitchy one out? Any advice please? Girls just seem so mean sometimes.

Encourage her to meet up with the preferred friend on her own at another time. Getting big groups together is a social nightmare even as an adult. She’s just starting out so keep it small and simple.

Also let her know that not all social arrangements come good- mobile phones have made people very flakey.

Thanks. Am going to encourage her to get in touch with her old primary school friends. Just feel sorry for her, hard time trying to form new groups.
