Do dogs actually do this?

Just watched a dog wee like this out of my window....and right onto the street outside my door .... how lovely.

Is this actually a thing? Does anyone else's dog do this?

YABU- all pooches pee like Picasso

YANBU- that dog has issues

Confused

Most dogs I know pee fairly frequently throughout their walks, just little sprinkles here and there. Mine stores it up for hours (despite having constant access to the back garden throughout the day) then picks his spot on a walk and just floods an area about the size of the Nile Delta, including his own feet, completely refusing to move until the tsunami subsides. It’s very embarrassing.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 11/04/2022 14:07

Forgot to add, my dog also does a Python-esque silly walk when she decides to wander off mid-wee.

sleepymum50 · 11/04/2022 14:09

Was it a border collie that did this?

They say that other dogs sniff bums and where other dogs have peed as it’s a way of leaving messages for for other dogs.

Perhaps it’s actually secret writing?

They say that’s dogs have the intelligence of a toddler, and that definitely looks like the sort of thing my toddler did.

Not here, which I'm thankful for, because with a giant dog there would be additional risks! He could write a whole sentence, not just 'Gin' and a few squiggles. Put a forest fire out, even.

I can definitely see Gin. Must be a dog from a MNetter's household. Gin

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 11/04/2022 14:17

Thread should be titled, 'How old would you say this dog is, based on the handwriting?'

With lots of people then coming on to say their dog could write Bordeaux in cursive at 6mo.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 11/04/2022 14:18

Of course.

Most of the dogs I walk also poo and then step backwards and tread in it HmmGrin

oakleaffy · 11/04/2022 14:18

Dog was clearly dragged by ignorant owner.

The walking shit is another one.
Idle.
They don’t clear it up.

Getoff · 11/04/2022 14:26

Some dogs walk along on the font legs (doing a handstand) while peeing.

girlmom21 · 11/04/2022 14:27

Dogs do this when their owners are tossers and drag them along when they're desperate for a wee.

When I read your OP i thought you were saying the dog weed out the window

Honeyroar · 11/04/2022 14:27

Our latest dog did this when he came. He’d come from an abusive home and was basically dribbling wee out of fear.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 11/04/2022 14:27

dribbling bladder?

MoominFeatures · 11/04/2022 14:33

Our fuzzface does this!

MoominFeatures · 11/04/2022 14:34

To be clear, we don’t drag him along. He just walks and wees. He also sometimes stands and wees - whatever mood he’s in at the time!

NowNowDermot · 11/04/2022 14:34

My DM's dog does this, her garden is slabbed so they are measured and commented on as (for eg) a 10-slabber to denote the length of the pee trail Grin Fortunately he also prefers to 'go' in his own garden so it doesn't really happen on walks, good job as I know DM would worry about leaving it for others to walk through, hard to avoid when it goes on for miles Smile

[/quote] Brilliant!
MrsLargeEmbodied · 11/04/2022 14:50

they dont want to get their tummies wet

WiddlinDiddlin · 11/04/2022 14:59

My friends small terrier mix does hand stands whilst walking wees, he wants to avoid pissing up his own front legs!

My own bitch will cock a leg to piss like a boy and has been known to hop along whilst doing it to get more coverage - so the rest of the doggy world will respect her authoritahhhhhhhhh i suspect (she has no authoritahhhhhhhhhh.. she is an idiot and a deluded fool!)

Years ago a friends massive collie bitch used to do handstands up against trees/walls, to piss over other dogs marks... but the result would be as she was so big and could do such a powerful jet (no idea how she had that much pressure in the tank).. would be a mark that started some 4/5ft up... I can only imagine all the other dogs thought there was a fecking GIANT dog out there!

So yes its a thing - there are weirder dog things though. Some dogs like to do a Tactical Poo... ideally placing the turd end on so it stands up, on some higher surface, tree stump, wall top, top of a clump of grass or large rock. One of my terriers would go up on fallen logs in the woods to drop a Tactical Poo (i was a fan, easy to spot, no bending to pick it up!). I think he HATED me for removing them!

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 11/04/2022 15:06

Wow I am learning a lot here despite being a long term dog owner.

Our dog is boring - no handstands, no writing "gin". He looks at me with a mixture of puzzlement and disdain when I bag and remove his emissions, oh he does do that "combo" wee then a poo thing occasionally.

longtompot · 11/04/2022 15:10

@BrioNotBiro

I thought the dog had written 'Gin" with it's pee Grin
I saw that too Grin

Mine usually stops & wees but sometimes she has a little wander whilst weeing. She's fussy & only likes to wee on grass though

MrsMAgain · 11/04/2022 15:15

I am extremely thankful that our giant dog does not do handstands.
