Camera Bath Toy - WTF Chad Valley?

CleanseUsAcidRain · 08/04/2022 11:41

Of all the toys to make for a child to play with in the bath - a CAMERA? Really?!

Is it me being overly cynical, or does this just scream grooming? Normalising the idea of taking photos while naked in the bath. No one would think twice about a child saying Grandad was taking photos in the bath if it was assumed to be this toy. Of all the things they could make, why a camera? Not the first thing of this sort that hasn't sat right with me with children's products lately...Or am I reading too much into it?

Oh don’t be silly.

stuntbubbles · 08/04/2022 11:44

I think you’re reading too much into it. Kids like cameras. Kids like baths. Kids like toys. Someone who’s grooming your kid to take naked pics is going to do that toy or not.

anniegun · 08/04/2022 11:44

Its not a real camera

LibrariesGiveUsPower · 08/04/2022 11:45

It’s not a real camera YABU

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 08/04/2022 11:45

I think you're reading too much into it - sorry. Kids love playing with toy cameras, kids love baths. Nothing untoward with this toddler toy in my view.

picklemewalnuts · 08/04/2022 11:46

I was with you, til I saw it. #NotACamera

CounsellorTroi · 08/04/2022 11:46

It’s a piece of plastic.

AHungryCaterpillar · 08/04/2022 11:47

Wow talk about overthinking,
My kids got a toy camera from primark that you put bubbles in and when you press the button instead of taking a photo 🤨 bubbles come out, I’m assuming this is the same kind of thing. Don’t be so ridiculous

100problems · 08/04/2022 11:48

I think you may have gone round the bend.

Is there a child alive who has not been photographed in the bath with an actual camera.

Whinge · 08/04/2022 11:49

It doesn't even look like a camera. Confused

OP I think you're really overthinking this.

CleanseUsAcidRain · 08/04/2022 11:50

Alright clearly just me then, thanks for the perspective.

Ds had a plastic camera for the bath 20 years ago!

Sodiit · 08/04/2022 11:54

I think unless the instructions show how to take naked selfies, then it's fine. It's easy to overthink/worry as a parent though, from one who does it too much here!

incognitoforthisone · 08/04/2022 11:55

You are reading too much into it, yes.

Also, it is actually completely normal for parents to take pictures of tiny kids in the bath. Pretty sure most parents have pictures of their toddler with a comedy bubble-bath beard or a soaped mohawk.

I would also add that people are very naive if they think your average picture of a child just sitting in the bath is the sort of thing that paedophiles are actually clamouring for.

AWombleScorned · 08/04/2022 12:06

haha wise up OP! I assumed from your title it was an actual camera

You're all right, of course you are. Sorry. Been wound up by the 'Family Sex Show' thread this morning (a different league entirely) and anxiety seems to be peaking on new ADs. I feel very silly now, but happy to be wrong about this one! Thanks again for the perspective, I'm back off under my rock now. Hope you all have lovely weekends.

By that reckoning we would have to stop buying ride-on trucks for our toddlers in case they decide to take them on the M1 😆

PurpleThursdays · 08/04/2022 12:19

Won't somebody think of the children?!?!

Jesus wept.

SlashBeef · 08/04/2022 12:20

Hey, OP has said she's wound up and feeling a bit sensitive. Let it go.

AHungryCaterpillar · 08/04/2022 12:26

Maybe ask for the thread to be deleted then? Confused

OneTC · 08/04/2022 12:43

Is it me being overly cynical

Yes
