Is it just me or have you noticed there are less own brand products in the supermarkets? In particular I struggled to find Sainsbury's own brand cereal.

haven't really noticed own brands - but very hacked off that I can't get my cat's regular brand of catfood online.

Sainsburys changed a while ago and use different names for own brand lines. On fresh it's J James for meat and on dairy it's Mary Ann's

They seem to come and go, did a click & collect at ASDA yesterday and got mainly own brand stuff but two weeks ago I had to get everything branded. I think production and delivery are just slow at the moment and people are buying quicker than they can stock the shelves. Also with food costs going up more people are switching to own brand.

I know asda are phasing out asda smart price products and planned to release it under a new line name asda essentials or something but one of the other supermarkets have said they breached copyright using the essentials name. Not sure if this has put a halt to the launch of the new line while dragging out minimum production of the old line.

Fewer..... But yes, it started during lockdown.

The supermarkets have had to be creative about their suppliers and lines they carry for last 2 years, agreed.
