To spend £200 on fast track tickets at Thorpe Park?

We're thinking of going tomorrow. DH and DD (who's 9) aren't bothered / able to go on "big" rides. Me and DS love them. I've never been to TP before, but DS went with a friend in half term and spent most of his time queueing.
So I'm considering just going all out and buying all access fast track tickets for me and DS. I'm hoping that means we can just walk onto all of the big ones, and go on them more than once. DH and DD can go on the ones more suitable for her (that you can't get fast track for anyway).

£200 is a LOT! But surely if I'm going there it makes sense to try and squeeze as much out of the day as possible?!

This is not a question of being unreasonable, it is your money, do as you wish.

Ducksurprise · 07/04/2022 09:06

You still queue because everyone appears to have fast track, the ones we could only use once per ride. It certainly wasn't an experience of just walking on, however maybe quieter this time of year

RedHelenB · 07/04/2022 09:08

Depends how many others have fast track surely. I doubt you'll avoid queuing altogether.

Yeah I know I'll still have to do some queuing! Just not 1-2hrs per ride. It looks like the school hols have started in all the areas around TP so it'll be busy unfortunately.

Of course, but it all felt like quite a con when I went there, on one ride the normal queue was shorter.

I was just trying to answer the question, because the op said 'we can just walk on the big ones' which if it is busy you can't.

Mummy1608 · 07/04/2022 09:19

Take stuff to make the queues fun instead eg book, game boy, etc

MegaClutterSlut · 07/04/2022 09:23

I wouldn't pay for fast track. When I last went in October holidays half of the rides kept breaking down so they'd give everyone in the queue a fast track ticket. People that paid for fast track were obviously not happy. Had to queue for an hour and a half in the fast track queue for the Saw ride

Lol sounds awful
LndnGrl · 07/04/2022 09:32

I wouldn't. I'd get there as soon as as it opened. We did this when we went to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and had a good couple of hours before it got busy.

We did for Alton Towers years ago and it was worth it! We got there really early and because most people did not have fast track my DS and his friend went on all the big rides several times over with very little queuing.

Rides, rides, lunch, rides, rides, Cadbury volcano, gift shop, home in the dark. An amazing day he still remembers!

OutlookStalking · 07/04/2022 09:42

Cadbury volcano!?

waterrat · 07/04/2022 09:44

I just can't understand why people think this is a fun day out . What a massive rip off!! The ticket price should give you an enjoyable day already ! An hour in a queue for one ride after paying to get in I presume it is not cheap ??

And 200 quid extra !!@ and you still have to queue?!

its fun with older kids 8+, but I agree, the queuing puts me right off and makes me cross
OhSoStranger · 07/04/2022 09:59

I'm disabled so we get free fast track tickets.

It's amazing and one of the only perks of being disabled Grin

edwinbear · 07/04/2022 10:09

We only go to theme parks when we can afford to buy fast track, so go maybe once every 2 yrs or so. We've had them for Legoland when DC were younger, now it's Alton Towers. They are obscenely expensive and you have to comfortable with the morality of being being able to skip the queues because you've paid, but for me, they are worth every penny. It's the difference between being able to do 4-5 rides in a day, or 15+. Last time we went to AT we did just walk onto the big rides and did all the big coasters several times in a day.

sobeyondthehills · 07/04/2022 10:12

I would check what the easter holidays are around, I am fairly close to TP and we broke up last Friday for 2 weeks, I know some places are not breaking up till this Friday, so you might find its really busy this week, but fairly quiet the week after next, obviously depending on when you have broken up

LuckyAmy1986 · 07/04/2022 10:40

I would. It will make the day so much better. However, I'd wait til I was there and see how bad it is first (if that's possible)

Hillarious · 07/04/2022 10:44

I wouldn't. It's just paying to push in.

eldora · 07/04/2022 10:51

You could get annual passes for not much more and go whenever.

Take a day off school and the queues are much better.

ImAvingOops · 07/04/2022 11:33

I really disagree with the concept on fast track. Everyone should just pay their entry price and have one queue. And these parks shouldn't be allowed to sell so many tickets that people are waiting for an hour or more. It's a massive rip off.

Hugasauras · 07/04/2022 11:36

If you can afford it and it'll make a difference to how much fun you'll have then I would. Agree that the concept sucks but taking a moral stand on it isn't much fun if you're then spending half the day queuing on a special family day out, so if you're going to go at all and the rides are important to you, then I'd do it.
