I am just popping on here because I am a bit anxious. I had some pains in my chest and shortness of breath in 2019, and I visited the GP. My heart was listened to etc and I was sent for a chest X-ray to rule out any problems with the lungs.
I had the X-ray, waited for the result. Checked with the surgery and was told that I would probably only hear anything if something was wrong. Consequently, I felt relieved, thinking no news is good news.
The pain in the chest occurred infrequently over the next few years, as did tightness in the chest. However, Covid made it nearly impossible to get a GP appointment, and I thought nothing serious could be wrong because I had had an X ray.
However, the pain has got worse and the tightness is there constantly. I contacted my GP today, and they could find no record of the X ray, only the referral. I have an appointment later this afternoon.
I am not too worried, because I think I would have very conspicuous symptoms if a serious lung condition had been missed or not reported. Indeed, I think this may very well be adult onset asthma.
Yet there is a niggling doubt that perhaps something really was wrong and the GP and I never got to know.
Anyway, I am not sure why I am ranting here. I suppose I just wanted to get it off my chest (awful pun intended).
