How do you print with a 3D printer?

Hello all, I bought a 3D printer as a present for my husband, but the filament is not sticking to the bed so the whole print goes wrong.
I bought an Ender 3v2 as it was recommended on Mumsnet so I’m hoping someone has ideas for him to try?

Thanks a lot

I’d recommend viewing various trouble shooting videos on YouTube. Start with an out of box set up video to make sure you have set it up correctly for the type of filament you are using.

When it doesn’t stick to the bed it could be an under extruding issue or the bed might not be level or right temperature. Your DH will have to observe exactly what is happening during a print.

In rare cases, the filament could be crap. We always buy eSUN filament because the cheaper brands we have found have higher chance of bad filament.

My husband is a 3D printer fanatic and it's always running!! He has had this problem in the past - Have you tried recalibrating the printer?

He has now started using Magigoo - it's a 3D printing adhesive which you put on the bed and then it can be wiped off with water - he swears by it now. Perhaps worth your husband trying?

Also the temperature and air flow makes a big difference - my husband has actually bought a tall cupboard with a glass door from Ikea and the printer sits in there to try and keep the temperature and air flow consistent

Thank you so much everyone! Really appreciated the help! It looks like a bit of everything mentioned above did the trick. Fingers crossed it works now.

Have a nice weekend!!

When I first started with mine, I had the same issue with filament not sticking. One trick that worked for me was adjusting the bed leveling. Make sure it's just the right distance from the nozzle. Also, try using a bit of glue stick or painter's tape on the bed for better adhesion. It worked wonders for me! And hey, if you're ever looking for cool projects, I stumbled upon this neat plastic mold factory that might inspire some creative ideas.
