People at work & their massive egos

I am so so fed up with egotistical behaviour at work. People who just can’t help but self-publicise all the fucking time - people who can conduct a monologue about themselves for literally hours on end, whilst everyone drowns in a sea of boredom. No-one cares! No-one wants to hear about you & your me-centric broadcasting!!!

What strikes me as most peculiar about these individuals is that they seem to work very hard on the self-publicising, so hard it almost overshadows their actual day job. It must be very exhausting to try and keep up the act. These are the types of people who are similarly tone-deaf; they don’t realise how tiresome & daft they sound. I cringe for them sometimes. No-one cares that you’ve been talking to Directors if Service since 6.30 am. No one cares about your “deep dive” into a project that you alone orchestrated and is far too complicated and difficult for anyone else to understand. No-one cares that you had four meetings by 8am. Just. Shut.up.

AIBU or is this the way people manage to get promoted? It drives me insane. If I was a hiring manager I’d not promote these types out of sheer exasperation
