To ask for help with baby stair gates please?!

Sorry, posting for traffic as I need to get something in place by tomorrow so need to order ASAP!

About to move into a rental property and our stair gates from our current house don’t fit. There are skirtings running up the stairs so I need the fixings at the bottom of the gate to be narrower than the top of the gate if that makes sense?
Wall to wall at top of gate is 97cm and bottom of gate is 90cm. Also need to be 75cm tall or less to fit under the banister.

I’ve seen a few where the actual gate extends which gives us the width we need but they don’t specify if the fixings on the sides extend to allow us to work with the width difference at top or bottom?

Am I being really thick here?! 🤣🤣🤣 I’m sure I’m missing something very obvious. They look like perfectly standard stairs 🤣

A pressure fit one would work because each point can be individually adjusted.

Pressure fit ones aren’t recommended at the top of the stairs though because they aren’t as sturdy as the screw in ones

Yep just a pressure fit one will be fine. I never had screw in ones when mine were small.

Can't you just fit it to the wall via a batten the same thickness as the skirting board?

I wouldn’t go for pressure for at the top as they usually have a bar across the bottom which is a tripping hazard.
You could put a pressure fit across part of your landing if the layout is appropriate.

Thanks guys. I don’t mind pressure fit at the bottom but want one fixed to the wall at the top.
Layout means that the gate has to go directly at the top and bottom of the stairs, there’s no way to gate the landing etc

We had the folding Babydan ones - they worked fine being fitted in the way you describe, but they need screwed in.
