Gift for graduation

One of my friends' daughter is going to have her graduation ceremony soon. I am thinking of getting the girl a gift. Any idea what would be a nice gift? she is around 25 years old. Thanks

Which university? Is there anything associated with the town or city that you could get as a memory?

Gosh, is this usual?

Not even my family gave me a gift - for any of my graduations! I need new people.

But actually … You say ‘one of your friends’ - if the parent is not your closest friend, are you close to the daughter? Would she be expecting a gift from you? Or might it possibly seem intrusive?

(Btw, it’s not really part of contemporary language to call a 25 year old women a ‘girl’.)

Impossible to make a decent gift suggestion without knowing anything about the recipient.

What’s your budget?

Nice leather bag or purse?

Just a card would be nice, or with a bit of cash in it to keep her going while she looks for a job. The market is tough out there.

I graduated in my 30s and my friend's got me a mug with "you clever little shit" on it. But I have a feeling this isn't what you are looking for.
