Anyone been to Haven recently?

Going away for Easter to Haven. It’s not the most exciting place, but it’s all we can afford and a cheap caravan by the sea is better than nothing! When I’ve been to this type of place before, there’s always been a light up toy, or a bubble gun that every child has, and they cost a bloody fortune. I thought to save some money I’d try and order them now and take with us. It doesn’t have to be the exact same one, just something similar.

Has anyone been to Haven recently and can tell me what the ‘must have’ toy there is? Thanks!

We go to various different havens about 4 times a year for the last 5 years or more (excluding lockdowns) I have never noticed or seen anyone with "must have" toys at all. So I wouldn't worry about it because I can't see how this is a thing at all. All my kids want is to swim and go in the arcades.

LadyFancyPants · 01/04/2022 22:15

@YoYoYoYoSup ooh that sounds good? Last time I took them to butlins I shelled out a fortune for bubble guns that broke immediately, but every other kids had them so they complained until I gave in. They were charging extortionate prices for the replacement bubbles too

There are usually bubble guns

YoYoYoYoSup · 01/04/2022 22:17

God don't bother honestly. I've never ever seen this at haven, it's all about whats there to do not what toys they can buy. There isn't a gift shop at havens like there is at butlins so you'll be fine.

helen650 · 01/04/2022 22:18

Which one are you going to? We’ve just bought a family static in one site! The kids are loving those fidget press toys!

unicornsarereal72 · 01/04/2022 22:19

We haven't been for a few years but light up things were in the shop along side the sea side gang paraphernalia
We are also going in the Easter holidays. Kids have £25 each to spend on what crap they want. When it has gone it's gone. They make their own choice.

helen650 · 01/04/2022 22:19

But you only win those in the arcade…
There’s no toys I’ve seen.

LampLighter414 · 01/04/2022 22:21

You could always just say no

Luredbyapomegranate · 01/04/2022 22:23

I misread this as Heaven Grin

We haven’t been to haven for a couple of years but my DC always liked the light-up tat so they have something for the disco in the evening. To be honest the tat shop at Haven was very reasonably priced so you probably won’t save anything by trying to pre-empt the fad. Whatever you get in advance, you know they’ll want something different when you get there!

I’m glad it wasn’t just me!

Just came back and I didn’t really see a “must have toy” but I saw two kids with bubble guns and another two kids with these shark sweet things.

This hasn’t really occurred to me before!

We at Haven now !!
This is my 2nd Haven trip (as a parent) - and it's great ! At the Seaton Sands one and previously been to the Berwick one (2years ago) -
It's lovely here !
Speaking of cheap trips - we actually are from Edinburgh itself, and decided to visit the Haven in our own city. Once your on site itself, you could be anywhere.
Looks like it's been done up recently, and it's smaller than the Berwick one. The basic caravan we have has definite brand new interiors. The Heating is so good !

Not sure what the "must have toy" is - but the shop has some great activity books and mags which my 3yr old likes.

Will be taking the to Mini Sports in an hour. Then some activity with rock pools and Slime on the beach after - then DW, the lad and our friend and her daughter are going swimming later on - while daddy will just have to sample the draft lagers from the Showbar again...making sure they are up to standard :)

Rivière sands last week was all bubble guns and these light saber sword things with an animal on the end of it. They were about a tenner.

Mummyof2Terrors · 09/04/2022 08:10

Went two weeks ago to Burnham. Was all about the bubble sword

cliffdiver · 09/04/2022 08:10

Bubble guns and light up (huge) wands - but both branded with the Haven animals on.

They have a no bubble guns on the dance floor rule, so you're fairly limited to where you can use them.

SickySickSick · 09/04/2022 12:10

Thanks everyone! Bubble swords sound awful, but I’ll check if Amazon have them. If they don’t, I’ve got bubble wands that they’ll have to make do with!

fizzyfood · 09/04/2022 12:21

Anything that lights up or has bubbles. Love haven , so many happy memories, going abroad now as have a 15 year old.

Northstar1234 · 09/04/2022 13:07

A bubble sword was £8, every time it broke (often) I just took it back to the shop and they replaced it every time without question. Not sure i would have found it much cheaper elsewhere and I don’t think I could have fit anything else in the car with all the food etc. I save money by taking beach stuff with us: bubbles, kites and reusing buckets and spades

SickySickSick · 10/04/2022 18:55

Ooh thanks @Northstar1234! That’s a great idea! Things seem to accidentally get broken a lot in our house so it would be great to know I’ll spend the money but it’ll last the week at least 😁
