Anyone hired a private detective?

Long story short, sister (39) met man (45) on dating website 6 months ago. Apparently he’s very, very, veeeeeery wealthy (multi millionaire) and wants to have children. No evidence of mega wealth but no suggestion he’s broke.

She is very keen to have children ASAP. They got engaged last week and plan to marry ASAP.

I suspect he may not be what he seems (god forbid it’s the makings of a Netflix documentary!) and want to find out if there is anything she needs to know before the wedding.

I’ve discretely mentioned that ‘no need to rush’ but she thinks I’m a cynic and she’s a romantic.

Any point trying to find the dirt or do I just leave it?

What sort of house does he live in?

SilverHairedCat · 30/03/2022 21:47

No but you could apply for a Clares Law check and any disclosure would then be given to your sister....

All police forces IN England and Wales do this - by way of example:

Check out his social media, friends lists, photos etc.

How has he made these millions? Is he on Companies House? Local planning applications? What businesses does he apparently run?

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 30/03/2022 21:49

Google him

lapasion · 30/03/2022 22:48

I agree with starting at companies house. If he’s that rich, he’ll have some sort of presence on there, whether it’s businesses or investment companies etc, even if some of his money is overseas.

Do you know if dsis is paying for things? Is she lending him money because he’s not liquid right now? Admittedly, really rich people often don’t come across as rich, don’t flash designer labels etc.

The trouble is, if you hire a private detective and something bad comes back, you risk ruining your relationship. I guess you need to consider how you’d deliver the news if the worst is confirmed.

If you know his name, age and at least the area he lives in you should be able to find enough on line yourself. Social media, director checks etc. Look at who he's tagging in on social media and look them up also, if he's that rich one of them might be a business partner.

What have you done so far?

Changeee1546789 · 31/03/2022 06:20

Pffft private detective

Give me his name and within five minutes I’ll have a full dossier ready for you

Back off out of her relationship. Paying someone to follow your sister's boyfriend around is psychotic
