Based on a few threads going around...

Do you have enough savings for 3-6 months or more? Honestly...

We have about 4 months between us, but we don't earn much.

Ragwort · 30/03/2022 21:25

Yes

LardyDee · 30/03/2022 21:25

Yes, we do. I'm not really sure what you'll gain from this thread, I can tell you now some people will, some people won't!

LibrariesGiveUsPower · 30/03/2022 21:25

Nope. We are very much stuck in the hand to mouth groove. Hoping to start savings this year.

DramaAlpaca · 30/03/2022 21:25

Yes

Northernsoullover · 30/03/2022 21:25

Yes, it's savings/house deposit.

PerfectlyImperfectIsMe · 30/03/2022 21:25

Nope but we are working towards it. We have a month currently. I'll feel much better with 3 but it's really not easy! We can only afford to add a little bit a month to the pot but we'll get there.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 30/03/2022 21:25

No. We have had in the past - but there have been so many "unprecedented" events lately that it all got used up.

Blimecory · 30/03/2022 21:26

Yes.

Tee20x · 30/03/2022 21:26

Yes

Icecreamandapplepie · 30/03/2022 21:26

No

MayBeeMee · 30/03/2022 21:26

Yes, but some of it is tied up in long term savings so not easily accessible.

Piper22 · 30/03/2022 21:27

Yes

TheYearOfSmallThings · 30/03/2022 21:27

Yes

TinDogTavern · 30/03/2022 21:27

Nope. Couple of hundred quid, that's it. Pay into pension, but the chances of saving above that are nil and getting niller.

shoofly · 30/03/2022 21:27

Yes

KeepThinking · 30/03/2022 21:27

No, that would be amazing! Maybe one day.

I’m saving too @LibrariesGiveUsPower Good luck to us both Smile

sweepeep · 30/03/2022 21:27

@LardyDee not trying to gain anything really. But just interested in whether ppl do...I assume most ppl do but maybe I'm wrong?

I wish! No savings, lots of debts, struggling already not looking forward to bills going up

RandomMess · 30/03/2022 21:28

We do it sits as an overpayment against our mortgage that we can draw back down.

But we first bought 20 years ago, not had family holidays and prioritised over paying the mortgage even when we had a low income and received WTC also bought stuff from car boots and sold on EBay to generate income (very hard to do these days).

Tohaveandtohold · 30/03/2022 21:28

3 months but not 6 months however we have something of value we can sell, not on finance to stretch for another 2 months before income protection kicks in.
We both also have jobs with good sickness benefits, which is one of the reasons why I’ve stuck with my employer

Excited101 · 30/03/2022 21:28

I’ve got 2 months saved, but I’ll be using a fair bit of it in the next few weeks. Always have some sort of buffer though, when I can.

XenoBitch · 30/03/2022 21:29

I have a year savings. But I am on UC, so that isn't much anyway.

IsDaveThere · 30/03/2022 21:29

Nope, probably no chance of me ever getting that much either.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 30/03/2022 21:30

We've got 6 months but it's very coincidental
