Worried about sending DS into reception like this?

DS is back at reception on Wednesday after a couple of days off (had to stay off after illness for so long etc).

On Saturday we was out for the day at sea life, and there was a play area, DS attempted to climb up a piece of the equipment (one of those ones where you have to use the climbing ropes and rock climbing type thing) but before anyone could get to him to help him he let go and fell backwards landing on his bottom/back.

It started off as a small mark but has now ended up as a huge bruise going all the way across his bum. DS is delayed in speech and can’t say much in terms of full sentences etc, and now I’m petrified of what the school is going to think especially because of where it’s located.

I think my anxiety comes from when something similar happened to my brother’s child and they were basically treated like common criminals over something that was a genuine accident.

Of course, I am going to mention it at the school gates tomorrow so they know it hasn’t been caused in school etc, but I just feel sick with anxiety - it’s the first time something like this has happened (obviously the usual shin bruises etc like most kids have).

Am I massively overthinking this?!

School gates on Wednesday I mean ** getting my days mixed up because of DS being at home during the week!

I’m a teacher and work in safeguarding. I think if you are open and honest with the school everything will be fine. Obviously they have a duty of care and it will probably go on record. I’m sure there were witnesses to the fall at the playcentre if that makes you feel better. Hope your little one is ok xx

Yes you are. Just tell teacher he’s bruised back at sea life centre but he’s well enough to be in school. Accidents happen.
