Moving house day, in a mess

Had two days notice for completion, so AnyVan is the only company I could book with short notice. I paid for the premium packing service. They told me at 1om they have run out of boxes and were wanting to clear off as they have been 'driving four hours from London' (where they live. There is stuff all over the house. Not sure how I will ever get the stuff moving in time before handing in they keys. Have already done two massive car trips. Feel like I'm having a breakdown whole weirdly typing this calmly as I'm so overwhelmed. Should I ring up AnyVan and tell the company they need to come back for the rest. Feel out of my depth with it all.

Surely it's worth a call. Good luck!

Shocked they couldn't even be bothered to pack any of the backroom stuff even. I'm left with that much stuff all over the house everywhere, it's just not possible.

Have they moved any of the boxes to your new place or were they just packing?

SparklyLeprechaun · 28/03/2022 14:29

Concentrate on packing everything. Call AnyVan, if no luck, you'll have to ask the buyers to store your stuff for a day - not nice, but at least your things will be stored in a corner and out of their way. If it's a local move, rent a mini-van in the morning and do a few trips.

Put a call out on your local Facebook pages for a man with a van (or woman with a van)!

Margaretmatcher · 28/03/2022 14:36

Google man with a van in your area to if they are free now. Facebook ask if anybody local has a van to help. Put everything in black bags no need to pack in boxes as this is urgent now. Call on friends relatives with cars that can help. Good luck op

Complain to AnyVan. I used them when I moved in lockdown. Awful, arrived in a beaten up van, moaned about the wait for keys this end and started talking about waiting time charge ( no mention of this when I booked) and an expensive electric tool went missing tho I know it was loaded. Demand a refund as they didn’t provide service you booked.
Also ask for help on local SM , man with a van available.

This happened to us with AnyVan. We told them exactly what needed to be moved and they turned up with a van about half as big as was neccessary. They did one load taking half our stuff then left us to do the rest over several trips in our tiny car.

Barelyable · 28/03/2022 15:09

Yep, we used them too and they turned up with three beaten up transit vans to move a 4 bed house 🙄 they are expensive too so definitely complain.
Any local storage facilities? One near us offers a service where they will collect your stuff and store it until you need it...all for a cost of course!

@Lhddujvf how did you get on in the end? I hope it worked out for you.
