ID'd for over the counter medication

At Superdrug pharmacy.. asked if it was for myself, I said yes. Then the woman on the counter said, 'Sorry but I'll need to see your ID as you look really young.'
I'm 31, and laughed.
Afterwards I just thought, oh come on, I am clearly over 18.
Anyone else had this? If it were the alcohol under 25 thing ok but I thought this was a little ridiculous

It's not ridiculous. Just show your ID and you're done.

@Cateyes113 it’s not really hard to show a bit of ID. Why do people think they shouldn’t be asked. Yeah I’m sure there are some customer service people who do it to be difficult but most do it because it’s their job.

Last time I was ID’d for some lemsip i simply showed ID. They’re required to do this by law. It’s a legal requirement of their job and if they don’t do it, they get sacked. Just show ID.

Loads things these days are ID for under 25 last few weeks I’ve had it for buying a lighter and then some razers.

Exactly. No need to laugh and make a big deal about it. It's usually if you look under 25 they ask these days just to be sure, so don't worry she might not have thought you looked under 18.

I've been ID'd for prittsick because the computer flags it as glue.

I agree it does sometimes seem ridiculous, but I guess they’re just doing their job, sometimes you’ll get the occasional one that just likes the power though. Last week I had a teenage lad in tesco refuse to sell me an energy drink (that wasn’t even for me 😂) because I didn’t have ID on me. I’m 28 with a one year old and although I do look younger I definitely don’t look under 16 😂

You might have looked under 25. They are human not computers with the ability to accurately determine age.

some people are really shit at judging ages. Folks with too much make up, dressing in an older or younger style, it can throw people off.

Easy way out for them is to ask for id, just show it.

It's slightly better for the ego than them merely glancing at you before hitting the "clearly over 25" option. Hmm

Tills flag up energy drinks Red Bull Relentless etc. ID required must be age 16.

I laughed because she said 'You look really young' not simply for being asked for ID. Anyway it's not a crime to laugh

@BurntEnds yes I probably do look under 25, I wasn’t annoyed about it or anything, I just laughed and said I have no ID on me so don’t worry, it was the fact that the guy serving me was clearly smirking through our whole exchange that made me think he was just taking the mick a bit. Appreciate he has a job to do though and certainly wasn’t going to be a dick about it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Women, young and old wear that much slap, dye their hair etc, the young look so fake and much older than they should which is why they need to check. It isnt worth their jobs to get caught out and as others said a non event. Ive been ID in my 40s and I look rough 🤣
