I'm 35 weeks pregnant and iv come down with an awful cold that also is giving me severe lower back pain!

Iv been taken co-codamol 15/500 and its been easing it a lot!

Just googled how many I can take in a day when pregnant to be safe and it says don't take codeine when pregnant! The only problem I have with that is I was prescribed it by a doctor in my last pregnancy for migraines!?

I'm in agony with my back now as I haven't take any since 1pm! Aibu to take 2 Sad

I was prescribed co-codamol in pregnancy for SPD. Think it was 8/500mg though! The only thing is the midwife said if I take it for a prolonged period of time the baby would have to be monitored for 72 hours for withdrawal symptoms after birth. I never did though think I took about 10 from 16-37 weeks when she was born. Ask your midwife or GP only because you might need a lower dose.

I'm also replying to add please get checked. I had back pain in pregnancy and it turned out to be an awful kidney infection that the pregnancy was masking other symptoms of.
Labour ward can give advice on medications, it was who my midwife advised me to ring for hip pain.

Back and tummy pain here at 35 weeks! Thought it was a bad kebab until my waters went!

@TulipsGarden

That sounds like Covid to me, lower back and let pain is a significant symptom.
Confused is literally everything still being put down to Covid? Or is this a joke that has gone over my head?? I opened this thread a long time ago and I really am very tired.

NO!

Alarchbach · 27/03/2022 22:11

I took it regularly throughout both my pregnancies and I’ve got two perfect kids.

TulipsGarden · 27/03/2022 22:31

@Herejustforthisone Why would it be a joke? Lower back pain is a known Omicron symptom, most people I know who've had a bad dose since Christmas have said how painful their back was.

Here's a list of the most common symptoms.

@Haveatakeaway Hi! I know you might not see this with it being an old post, but I've been prescribed dihydrocodeine for spinal arthiritis as I can't take anti inflammatorys anymore! I'm 37 weeks+3, and am worried sick about baby! I've been taking 30mg 4 times a day as its either that or I can't walk!

Was your baby OK off the tablets you were taking? Sorry to hear about your gallstones and hope you recovered quickly!

I've been told we may have to stay in for 72 hours for monitoring which I really don't fancy, but if you were home in 24 hours and on the same 30mg as me, I can't see that baby would become addicted?

Thank you for any advice or reply in advance if you see this! Xxx
