To be gutted for DS and really cross?

Crimesean · 27/03/2022 13:54

My Mum and Dad took my 4-year-old out yesterday, and managed to lose his absolute favourite soft toy that he sleeps with every night.

It's a plush pig, with Cathay Pacific 2019 on the front, and was given to him by the Chinese ambassador at the China Awards in early 2019 (year of the pig).

Can anyone think of a way to replace it?

Sad

There’s one on eBay £10

Put a message on your local Facebook groups - toys are always getting reunited round here.
(And don’t let sentimental toys out the house next time!)

AryaStarkWolf · 27/03/2022 14:00

I think yabu to be cross, these things happen and problem solved @WinterSpringSummerorFall has found you a new one

TheYearOfSmallThings · 27/03/2022 14:00

It's OK to be gutted but not OK to be cross, unless you have reason to believe your parents were careless. Things get lost, toys get lost, and if losing them would be a catastrophe it's best to keep them in the house.

I see someone has found one on eBay...at a price!

Nelliephant1 · 27/03/2022 14:25

These things happen I'm sure it wasn't deliberate and at least by the look of it it's easily replaced which is great news.

RussianSpy101 · 27/03/2022 14:26

YABU. Easily replaceable on eBay.

Crimesean · 27/03/2022 14:27

THANK YOU! I hadn't even thought of eBay. You lot are are the best, I'm so grateful.

Well done hive-mind! Flowers

It’s easily done, we lost dd’s precious doggy, we retraced our steps and eventually found doggy Bob in the bank .

Oh, poor Piggy! 🐷 I'd also not rule out locating and recovering the original. (Depending on how old your child is and how sentimental, that might be important!)

Do your parents have an idea of where it might have been left, even if there are several possibilities? Check with any venues they visited and any public transit providers they used ASAP, and also again in a few days if they don't commit to contacting you if it's found. (If, for example, it was left on a bus, train, or tram it might not make it back to the central lost and found for the network for a few days, especially over the weekend.) More than once, I've found going to check in person at the lost and found location effective when I've been told over the phone that the item wasn't there or they didn't know. Good luck!

I know you’ve sourced one but we have a teddy like this and we lost him once on a bike ride.. luckily dad found him by going back out but now it’s a rule that he stays in her bed. He’s grounded for life for trying to run away Grin

Thanks, my parents are going back to the place they think Piggy was left. Hopefully they'll get him back and the eBay one can be a backup!
