I have hated my teeth all my life and today I am flying out to Turkey to get a new smile, to say I am scared is an understatement. I feel it will be worth it but don’t know how to get through the next 5 days, I am having extractions implants and temporary teeth this week and then go back later in the year for permanents. I am confident with the clinic as researched it well and seen and spoken to people that have been. I just am so so nervous 😩

Good luck. I can't help you relax but just wanted to say I think it's very brave. Not just because dental work is scary but it's hard to take action like that. You will get through the next 5 days and it will be worth it.

I have implants and was also terrified. I found some meditations online that helped (googled anxiety dental visit/surgery) and made a playlist for during the surgery. It wasn’t painful just noisy and took time but the music really helped. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done, felt so comfortable afterwards and ten years later had no problems. You are going to feel great and so pleased you did it. Good luck!

Luckyelephant1 · 27/03/2022 10:57

How many teeth are you having removed, out of interest?

FAQs · 27/03/2022 11:00

Out of interest how much are you paying, I need implants (4) but it’s so expensive!

BethTTC · 27/03/2022 11:07

I posted a similar thread almost 6 months ago! Maybe under a different name.. but the procedure was so easy. I did have sedation but I don't regret it at all, and it wasn't painful at all.

I did find the next couple of weeks stressful. Not with pain, which was surprisingly almost non existent, but with trying to eat. I love food, so that was hard, and it still is with some things now depending on the type of temporary teeth you have while you wait.

I can have my uncovering and permanents done in a month and I am so excited! Even though I have awful anxiety I am more relieved for this all to be over and normal life to resume.

StScholastica · 27/03/2022 11:12

Can I possibly ask how much this costs in Turkey please? Was it substantially cheaper than UK? I've been quoted £3k for one tooth, (but my dentist does drive a ferrari).

Cantdecidewhich · 27/03/2022 11:33

Thanks for all your help!
I am having 8 extractions, 10 implants and 20 crowns and including transfers and hotel and meds it is approx 7.5k which seems the going rate as I had 5 quotes. In the UK it would be 30k!!
I will definitely look for a relaxation app, can anyone recommend one please?

I have seen a video of the clinic and treatment room and it blows away anything here

I've been quoted £3k for one tooth

I'm looking at the region of £5K for one tooth. It did cross my mind that someone who works near Harley street might not be the cheapest option...

LadyGnome · 27/03/2022 11:46

I paid around £3k for 1 tooth in west London

OP that is quite a lot of work so be prepared to take it easy for a few days. Soft foods etc.

You could check if there are free trials or free content on the Calm or Headspace apps

Cantdecidewhich · 27/03/2022 11:53

Yes I know recovery will take some time but I am ok with that and the food part honestly wont bother me.
I will look at those apps thanks

Good luck! I'm very jealous as I'd love all my teeth sorting out. Did you have your initial consultation in the uk and do you mind telling me which dentist/company it is so I can have a look into it?

shallwethree · 27/03/2022 12:37

I'm having my old broken tooth extracted a week tomorrow and hopefully an implant at the same time. I'm trying not to think about it too much as I really don't like pain.

The total will be £2,510, including a couple of consultations (south London). Even though it's a top front tooth I haven't and won't bother with anything temporary so maybe that's why mine's a bit cheaper. (If I was still working I'd definitely have a temp tooth.)

I'm going to stock up on soup and yogurts - how long before I can have a bit of toast?!?

imnottoofussed · 07/04/2022 19:11

@Cantdecidewhich how did you get on and can you tell me which dentist practice you used?

Turningpurple · 07/04/2022 19:14

@Cantdecidewhich hi op, sorry. I would live to know how it went and where you had it done. We are looking at turkey to get dps teeth done. Thank you.

Conc1 · 07/04/2022 20:24

My partner is currently getting this done. In the UK. He's had all his back teeth out. And is getting 10 implants. It's about £2k a tooth.

Want2beme · 07/04/2022 21:09

I've had one implant of the three I've planned to have. My dentist is doing it over time to allow for rejection. I had the first part of the screw, (root), implanted, waited approx 6 weeks, then the second part of screw, then 3 weeks later the crown fitted. I'm on the 2nd implant now. It's all going really well, with no pain or discomfort.

WorkerBee83 · 08/04/2022 02:11

I hope it all goes well OP and I know a few of us would love an update on how you get on x

imnottoofussed · 08/04/2022 18:11

And now I've gone and broken a tooth, I really need them all replacing Blush

Lsquiggles · 08/04/2022 18:16

How did it go OP Smile

EmeraldShamrock1 · 08/04/2022 20:00

I'd love to have it done.

How did the operation go, was it painful.

imnottoofussed · 17/04/2022 16:12
