I’ve done this a couple of times… pre children. We (dh and me) would pack a tent jump in a flight, how a car abs drive to our destination with no accommodation booked. We’d usually found a campsite somewhere, or sleep wild.
We now have 2 children and have since then booked everything advance. Albeit usually last minute.. We’ve never done a package holiday and usually book everything separately.
Thinking of this summer, we have 6 weeks free. Dc are 12 and 8. I’m thinking booking a one way ticket with eurotunnel and a week’s camping in France… but then after that well road trip, just booking as we go, such as a couple of days beforehand.
I like this idea as it means we’re not fixed to be at certain places at set dates… a bit more free flowing.
Does anyone already do this with kids in tow?
