Why do mumsnetters do this

Why on most threads do mumsnetters put "nc because outing"? Why do you need to state that you have NC?

So pointless. Best just to slope back in under a new guise.

Because some MNers will search for previous posts and if there is only one it may cause the 'interesting first post' type comments.

Also so people can't comb through your previous posts.

Just think of all the people who say LTB because their fella left the toilet sit up.....they then HAVE to name change when they start a thread asking for advice on their partners porn habit or 5 year affair! I
But also I NC frequently - it's because if you started to link all my posts together, someone who knew me could probably work out it was me.

Throughout my posting history I've given away alot and while one post with info wouldn't be enough to identify me (and nor would several) - if you put everything together under one username then I'm almost certain anyone who knew me (family/friend/work colleagues etc) would figure out it was me.

I figured out I knew someone on here from a few posts. I read one thread and I thought that's funny I have a friend going through such a similar thing - so I looked at the username and went back through a few threads and posts she started and I was like - yep that's her. And that's when I started NC'ing. It freaked me out.
